Chapter 25 "My first S rank mission"

Da-eun heard his voice "You can go play with them.. you have three minutes.. not a second more or I'll leave you here.."

After saying what he wanted to say, unlocked his phone and started scrolling in it.. It looked like he was looking at some kind of a cctv video while typing something in it.. he was still in the middle of it when he felt something warm holding him..

He saw black wavy hair swinging in front of his eyes and realized that it was Da-eun, who had hugged him.. again.. second time in the past twenty four hours..

He was not yet used to someone touching his.. so his body got tensed up.. After a few seconds she let him go… turned around and stepped out of the car..

Noah saw her walking excitedly and coming to a stop in front of the cage like place where the ducks were staying.. He sighed and got back to his phone to do what he was doing.. He had hacked into the nearby surveillance cameras and was keeping his eyes on anything suspicious..

There was nothing until a minute passed, but after that a black car came to a halt at a few meters distance behind them.. Noah saw this and raised his head and looked through the rear view mirror.. The glasses were tinted black so he couldn't see who was in it..

Elio also noticed and saw Noah intently looking at it through the mirror and he asked "Young master.. should I call for backup?"

Noah shook his head in denial before saying "I don't think they are here to cause any harm.. at least for now.. Go and bring her back.. we need to leave.." He kept his eyes on the car to notice any kind of movement in time.. while Elio unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out to fetch Da-eun back..

Meanwhile Da-eun was talking to the ducks.. "Hey duckies.. you see, I got a small guy that I wanted you to meet today.. but I guess he's a bit shy.. so maybe another time.."

She talked with them about some random things.. she then took out her phone to click a picture with them and was about to take a selfie when she heard Elio say "Miss.. we need to leave now.."

Da-eun turned around and saw him standing there waiting for her to go back with him.. she looked at her phone and said "But I've still got time.. one more minute.."

Elio saw her looking at him with her pleading eyes and sighed "Miss.. We can't wait here anymore or you'll be late for the class.." he tried to come up with an excuse for her to leave early..

Da-eun turned her gaze to look at the little monster sitting inside, who had his head raised.. looking at something.. She turned her gaze back to Elio and said "Alright.. I'll go with you.. but first you'd have to do something for me.."

Elio asked "What can I do for you miss.. just say it.."

Da-eun extended her phone towards him and said "Can you click a picture for me with the ducks?" She saw Elio extend his hand and take the phone to click the picture..

Elio held the phone and said "Ready.. 3.. 2.. 1.. click…" And the picture was clicked.. After that he handed the phone back to Da-eun and said "Shall we?" And gestured with his hand to get going..

Da-eun looked at the picture and smiled in satisfaction.. and walked towards the car hopping happily.. When she was walking she felt a light flesh through her eyes.. she looked back where the other car was, but found no one there..

Elio saw this and he came to the side to cover Da-eun behind him.. he opened the door for her to get inside and after she sat he closed it and went back to his side to drive the car..

Noah kept looking at he car that was still there when they drove away.. and finally heaved a sigh of relief and averted his gaze towards Da-eun to see what she was doing.. And surely she was still looking at the picture..

'You can be as dense as they say.. you don't even know that you had been spotted by the people looking for you.. I'll have to just stay close and make sure that nothing bad happens.. this time they only came close to click pictures of her.. but what if they do something when she is alone? I'd have to stay alert… that's what father told me to do.. my first S rank mission.."

Noah was thinking all those things in his mind and didn't notice that Da-eun had turned to look at him and was aready looking at him for a few seconds now.. Da-eun saw his face turning cold suddenly and his eyebrows furrowing.. She thought in her head 'What could it be that'd make him so serious? he was in a good mood when we left home.. Should I ask him or not? Argh..'

Da-eun poked him on his forearm to make him snap out of his thoughts.. then she saw him looking at her and asked "What is it on your mind? You can tell me if you like.. maybe I can help you with it.."

Noah saw her looking at him with concern filled in her eyes and cleared his throat before saying "It's nothing.. I was just thinking about the ducks.. do you play with them everyday?" Noah made up an excuse to change the topic and asked her any random question that came to his mind..

Da-eun heard his question, but felt like it was not the real thing that he was thinking about.. he was just trying to divert her mind elsewhere.. but she didn't expose him and followed what he wanted to talk about..

"Yeah.. I play with them mostly everyday.. not when I'm already running late for the school.. you don't like playing with animals?" She answered him and asked another question, making it a one on one round of queries..

Noah said with a shake of his head "No.. I've never played with them.. I was always busy with too many other stuff that I had to learn.. and to stay ahead of everyone.. so, all of this is foreign to me.. and it kind of makes me uncomfortable.."

Noah said half the truth and half lie.. When he was five, there came a cat when he was practicing shooting with his teacher in the backyard of his house.. He saw that little fur ball scared because of all the gunshots..

He put his gun down and walked near to pick it up.. as soon as he picked it up, he felt warmth surge inside his heart.. he wanted to keep it, but when he asked his father, he denied.. so, he had to let it go..

That cat came there for a few more days before one day it suddenly disappeared.. he asked his teacher about it.. his teacher said that it must have died in the cold weather without shelter..

From that day on Noah still felt like it was his fault that the cat died.. and refused to get close to any other animals..

As Noah was reminiscing about the past, they reached school..
