Chapter 145

The conversation left Jane emotional, he must be going through a lot all these years without the woman that he loved, how horrible could that be, she was still deep in thought when she heard her phone ring

It was Chris who was calling her he must have been waiting for her

She picked it up "I will be with you soon," she said

Soon she came to his room, she knocked on the door and was asked to come in

She gently opened the door and there was no one in the room does that mean no one was here everywhere was even dark, but she heard him telling her to come in

She wondered what was going on, did she mishear or what, she was about to leave the room when she felt someone grab her, she smiled immediately, it was Christopher, he was hiding here all along

"You are such a baby," she said

"What took you so long?" he asked

"Did you miss me that much?" she asked

"Yes I did" he admitted it

"Where were you? I was in your room but I didn't find you" he said

"Turn on the light first and I will tell you," she said

"Okay?" he said and turned the lights on not knowing what she wanted to say

"Where did you go?" he asked her again after turning the lights on

"Your dad called me into the study," she said she didn't even know where to start, she didn't know if it was a good idea to tell him what his father had told her about not loving his mother

"Why, what did he say to you, is he giving you a hard time like Mom?" he asked worriedly

"No of course not" she defended him

"I was wondering cause I know my dad is not like that?" he said

"Why did he call you then?" he asked

"I think he knows about us," she said

"What!" he exclaimed

"What exactly did he say to you?" he asked her

"Well he said he noticed you have feelings for me and that I feel the same way and that you've changed compared to before," she said and narrated everything that Mr Smith had told her except for the part where he told her about himself and that maid he was and still in love with

"And then he asked me if something was going on between us," she said

"Then what did you say?" he asked her panicking hoping she had not told him anything

"Well I didn't say anything, I didn't tell him the truth and I couldn't bring myself to lie to him either," she said

"Oh that's good, he can't know anything, no one can," he said

Jane's mood and demeanor immediately changed ' Why would he say that to her, that means he just wants to get in between her legs and dump her when the time comes ' she thought and her mood worsened

Seeing her face change, Chris knew he had said something that he shouldn't say, he quickly took her hand and tried to comfort her but she didn't bulge

"I want to get back to my room now," she said

"Now, but you only just got here, I thought you wanted to spend some time with me," he said

' Well I don't want to spend time with someone who doesn't want to show me and keeps hiding me ' Jane said in her mind as she didn't dare to say that to him

"I have things to do" She removed her hands from his and left the room

Chris didn't bother to stop her because the truth was that he didn't even know what he was going to say to her; why the heck was he feeling this way?

He has never been more confused in his life or more confused about his feelings

Jane walked to the garden outside she could but help but feel extremely sad and confused too

She was so angry right now, she didn't know what to believe, she didn't know if he loved her or not, whether he was being a good boss to her or he was just doing those things because he wanted to have her in his bed

Grace had already told her that when a guy says that to a lady it means he likes her and appreciates her body

Or could it be that he truly has feelings for me

"I guess Mr Smith was wrong," she said

Tears flowed down her face, she couldn't control them, the pain in her heart was too great that she needed to vent

Right now more than ever she wished that Cassie was here with her, she would know what to do but she wasn't here

How much she misses her friend

She should resume looking for her, she had made a promise to find her no matter what, but a lot of things had already happened, she had been so busy trying to fend for her and Chris that she didn't have any time, she even misplaced her bracelet

She subconsciously touched her wrist where the bracelet used to be, she remembered the times when they were at the orphanage, her life was much easier and simpler even though Cassie got them into a lot of trouble

She laughed out loud as she remembered all the atrocities that they committed together, Cassie got her into a lot of trouble

"Why are you here all alone?" Grace spoke from behind her

"Oh uh, nothing just taking fresh air, where's Chris?" she asked

"Oh he's sleeping, I had Thelma put him in your room" she replied

"Thank you," she said

"You are welcome," she said sitting close to her only then did she realize her crying face

"Have you been crying?" she asked
