Chapter 187

"I can't live without her Grace, I can't," Chris said finally allowing the tears to flow down his eyes

"and you won't, you just need to calm down and have faith, Jane is a strong girl, she will be fine, you just need to have faith in her" she assured him

About two hours later, Jane was wheeled out from the theater, immediately Chris and Grace saw her they quickly stood up and went to her side

"Jane can you hear me hey my love" Chris called out to her but she was not responding

"Chris please she just came out of surgery she needs time to recuperate, gives her time please," Mike said as he shielded him away from her cause it looked like he was going to carry her any moment from that time

Chris steeped aside and allowed the nurse to take her into the ward but he didn't leave her side all through

She was taken to the VIP ward where she was placed on an oxygen machine

"what's her condition Mike please talk to me," he asked him

"she's out of danger for now but she's still in a very critical condition, I want to believe this is attempted murder, whoever shot her wanted to kill her because the bullet almost hit her heart but she just got lucky," he said

"but how is she now?" he asked her, cause right now he didn't care about what happened he just wanted her to be safe, he would deal with whoever it was later and he wouldn't let them go Scott free

"she's under observation till tomorrow morning, we will keep a close eye on her, we've been able to remove the bullet and what she needs right now is maximum rest, we will carry out more tests on her tomorrow" he explained as brief as he could

"can we stay here with her?" Grace was the one who spoke, she has vowed never to speak to him again but right now her friend is more important

"yes I mean no only one person can stay here overnight but you both can be here for a while," he said, he was confused at first when he heard her speak to him, he was not expecting that at all

He could not take his eyes away from her, she had grown beautiful, she used to be the closest friend that he had but he had no idea what changed between them

He needs to clear things up between them both, he noticed that she was wearing the necklace that he gave her, but it was without the pendant but that was because the pendant was with him, so she kept the necklace with her all these while and she even wears it

That necklace was kind of what brought them closer to each other, ever since he gave her the necklace they became so close, she would always come to him since then but she returned it, now that he's seeing it he's even more curious to know what went wrong and he was clearing things up tonight.

Grace could feel his burning gaze on her and that made her feel quite very uncomfortable, she wondered why he was looking at her that way

Chris was oblivious to what was going on among them, he was too engrossed in Jane to even pay attention to them

"you should go home Chris, you are still very much in shock, I will stay and look after her, you can go home," she said to him breaking the awkward silence in the room

"no Grace I'm not going anyway she has to see me by her side when she wakes up, I can't leave her alone," he said firmly

Seeing that he had already made up his mind and there was nothing that she could do about it

"All right fine I will just stay here for a little while then and go to the reception," she said and sat close to the bed

Mike went out of the ward and stayed at the reception pretending to be doing something there was now that he was allowing her to escape from him today

Angel could not stop pacing around the room ever since she got in, she had called her father almost a million times but he was not picking up his call, she was starting to get worried about everything that was going on right now

She is worried for Chris she just hopes that her dad did not hurt him in any way, cause he knows how aggressive he is about that girl and he might try to help or save her, and her dad might hurt her in the process

She called her dad again but he was still not picking up, she threw her phone angrily on the floor

She has not heard anything from anyone, nothing unusual has happened, she has not heard any noise, and that anxiety was driving her crazy

Probably her daddy was not successful or he could not get the restaurant oh shit she needs information

Grace came out of the ward, Chris was still by Jane's bed when she was leaving the room, she had never seen her brother that broken before and that broke her heart as well

She even doesn't like the fact that Jane was lying sick like that.

She made her way to the reception she was going to get coffee for her and Chris, she would then come to the reception and stay for a while before heading home, she might need to bring new clothes for them both tomorrow cause Chris doesn't look like he's moving an inch from where he is

As soon as she got to the reception she felt someone grab her, she looked up to see who the person was and it was Mike, he was taking her to God knows where

' is he crazy or something? ' she thought to herself
