Chapter 194

Maria almost passed out as she came face to face with Whitney, ' what the hell is she doing here? ' she thought, she quickly faced Williams and Rebecca blocking their view it was the only thing that came to her mind at the moment, her mind was running Helter skelter at the moment, she just seriously wishes that all of these is nothing but a bad dream

"Maria, what nonsense are you doing? Are you okay? Ain't we going home anymore?" Rebecca asked her

"no Mother that's not the case I just thought we should stay a little bit more and give Chris a little more moral support, you know I behaved badly towards them in there, I was just worried for my son" she started to say nonsense and her body was starting to shake

She is so nervous at the moment that she doesn't know how else to behave on the spot

"Maria are you sure you are fine, you are shaking" Williams held her and tried shaking her, something was wrong with her, she was saying nonsense cause it was the most surprising thing for Maria to ever apologize about anything

Whitney felt her heart break into pieces as she watched the man that she loved the most care for another woman right in front of her, she could not take her eyes off him, he still looked the same as always age has not done much to him, he still looked as handsome as ever and her heart could not help but beat even more right inside of her chest

She could no longer take the sight, she ran back into the car and stayed there as she tried to control her tears that were threatening to fall

Maria turned back and she didn't see Whitney again in an instant, she didn't believe that she had disappeared just like that, she used her eyes to scan everywhere hoping to see her but she was nowhere to be found

"Maria, are you okay?" Williams asked her looking around trying to see what she was looking at but he could see nothing

"uhm yes I'm fine you know what I think we should just go mother must be so tired already we should take her home, we can come back later on to see them okay besides Grace is here, come on I even have a lot of things to do" she said and quickly took Williams by the hand and moved towards their car, she doesn't know what she would do if Whitney just shows up again

"Mom, what's going on?" Grace asked her but she didn't say anything she just kept moving towards the car, Whitney was not looking up so she didn't see them interact

Grace was quite confused but she didn't give it so much thought

"uhmm so let's just go where's Mrs Whitney?" Grace asked Zain

Zain was also surprised cause he was so sure that she had not gone inside, he decided to check inside the car and he presumed she was directly inside the car and she seemed to be crying

Not knowing the cause for her cry, he thought that she was still sad because of Jane and she was probably feeling too emotional to go in and see her

"come on Mrs Whitney you don't need to be like this, Jane will be fine in no time she's a strong girl come on let's go inside" Zain urged her and brought her out of the car, she came out and headed for the ward, but she still looked back hoping to see Williams again but he is already gone.

They got inside the ward and saw Jane lying down there on the bed looking all pale and sick, Mrs Whitney could not help but break down in tears

"oh my baby girl what happened to her, my girl please talk to me" she cried as hard as she could, today could not get any worse than it already was

Grace moved closer to her and comforted her, she didn't know what to say to her cause she was also very sad it was so sad to see Jane lying down there like that

"come on Mrs Whitney, Jane will be fine, we all need to trust her to come out of this all by herself with us by her side helping and supporting her, you just need to be strong for her, please," she said and patted her bag

She could not help but wail and soon she stopped crying, Chris was still seated by her side in the same position that he was when Grace left

"Mrs Whitney," Chris said as he held her hand

"she was out with me and I'm sorry that I could not protect her, she was shot and I guess the shot was directed at me, but I promise that I will never leave her side not be for a minute, and I will protect her even with my life and I'm going to find the person that did this to her, please forgive me," Chris said as he explained to her briefly everything that's going on.

"Are you sure that she will be fine?" Mrs Whitney asked him with her teary eyes, she had already lost three children she couldn't afford to lose another one

"I love her and I will do anything to protect her from harm" he assured her

"if you truly love her, you will leave her and let her be. You both are from two different worlds, and it's too dangerous for her to be with you; you will only keep putting her in danger. Just let her be", Zain said and left the ward.

He can't stand the way that he is confessing his love for her in front of everyone, he is so sure that he doesn't even love her as much as he does

He made his way to the park; he stayed there and waited for Mrs Whitney so they could return home together.
