Grace also could not help but feel relaxed being with him like this even though she knows it's so improper of her to do

"I think we should go my brother must be seriously waiting for us to get back already" she said

"oh yeah sure we should head back" he said

"but hey Grace" he added

"what is it?" she asked still avoiding his gaze, looking into those eyes would only mean trouble

"I need to speak to you, can you please make out for us to talk anytime, I would love it to be soon though," he said

Grace remembered Mrs Whitney's words to her and she decided to make use of the advice "Oh okay I will think about it" she said, she didn't want to make it so easy for him

"thank you very much", he said, and they both moved out of the office.

They made their way to the ward and Chris was right there waiting for them

"and what took you two so long?" he asked he was already getting impatient with the whole thing

"I was rounding off some things when she came to the office so she waited till I was done" he lied

"Yeah that's it" she supported him

"it's fine, so can I please get some explanation as to what happened here today?" he said

"hmm well the thing is an attempted murder was made" he said not able to complete the words

"uhmm I don't understand what you mean by that?" he asked

"an attempted murder was made on Jane" Grace said knowing he might not have the balls to tell him

The atmosphere in the room changed instantly, and the temperature dropped drastically; he could not believe what he was hearing at the moment: someone had come into the hospital and tried to murder Jane.

He stood up in a flash and grabbed the collar Mike immediately "What the hell were you looking at someone came in here and tried to kill her, what if the person had been successful what do you think would be happening right now" he said his entire body raging with anger

"Chris just calm down, it's nobody's fault you can't expect me to keep an eye on her 24/7 a day I had other patients to attend to so you just need to calm down," he said trying to be as reasonable as he can be

"I pay you so you can look after her what the hell?" he said still holding on to his collar

"I'm a doctor Chris, not a bodyguard or something, you should divert this anger to the person that came here and tried to inject poison her, had the camera footage wiped off and I should also be mad because of Jane, I lost my nurse, cause she saw the person come in and she is the only witness that we have but they fucking killed her right at the back of my hospital, so if you want to rage why don't we just do that together," he said and pulled his hand off his collar, he opened the door and left the ward.

"Mike" Grace called out to him but he was not even listening to her

"I know you are upset, the truth is that we all are, but you shouldn't done that; he has nothing to do with what happened; he's only trying to help", she said and ran after Mike.

Chris was left silent, he didn't know what to say and how to react anymore to all of these things that were happening, this was more serious than he thought, he first thought that he his the target but with what happened today, he knows for a fact that something else is going on

"Jack get security officials to surround the entire hospital and get some of them to report here now and guard this ward" he ordered

"yes sir," he said and left the room to make the call.

Getting to his office, Grace met him sitting quietly on his chair "Can I come in?" she asked him

"Yeah sure please come inside" he said and she went into the office to him

"I'm sorry about my brother's behaviour he's just agitated, you have no idea how much he loves her, he's just upset don't take it to heart" she said

"It's fine he just needs to get himself together, we all are upset," he said

"I will be sure to tell him that, thank you for understanding," she said

"but do you have any idea of when she might wake up, I'm tired of seeing her like that myself" she said

"I have no idea but it should be soon, her organs are not repelling the treatment that we have been going through, I think she's just doing this deliberately, she just doesn't have enough zeal to want to wake up, I think that she still wants to rest," he said

"hmm I see, so do you think that it might make a difference if I bring the kids over, especially Chris?" she asked him

"Yeah that will help out a lot as well you should bring them soon, talk to Chris about it cause I'm not talking to that brother of yours," he said

"it's fine I will do the talking," she said she was about to step out when she saw some blankets peeping out from the office cabinet

"do you sleep here at the office?" she asked him

"Yeah I do, ever since Jane has been here," he said not bothering to lie to her

"oh" that was all she could say

"But Jane is not the main reason I just used her as an excuse, the truth is that I'm happier being here," he said

"Are you having issues with her?" she asked

"we've always had issues, it's not new," he said.
