The Past [1]

"Oh my God!!! How could you forget Lydia behind?" Jace screamed at Janice who screamed back.

"Me?! It was you who left her behind!"

"Please, if we continue fighting over one problem without finding the answers, we're surely going nowhere!" Mr Fred added to the scream.

"Well let's all listen to our boss, he's right" Janice told Jace before suddenly looking at Mr Fred. "Because he was the one who left Lydia BEHIND!!!"

"Wait What?" The shock in Mr Fred's voice and the expression in his eyes could make one laugh.

"Yes! If not for him, Lydia could have been okay and here with us!" Grunting, Jace screamed at the confused man.

As they were screaming without stopping, the driver's eyes twitched, he never knew why these people never shut up.

"We need to get back to the mansion!" Mr Fred concluded, with an air of authority.

"B-but what if–"

"No what if!," Mr Fred paused Jace right in his words, "I'm sure Lydia is okay!"

"Yes, me as well," Janice heaved a sigh, "And I'm hundred percent sure she's okay as well!"

MEANWHILE....

"I'm not a hundred percent okay!" Lydia's heart skipped a beat as a stone fell right in front of her.

The entire surroundings was burning in flames, let's not forget the thick smokes clogging every single ventilation area.

Even with this, Lydia made sure Ryan had a clean breath into his lungs. So, she tore a piece of her gown, then folded it into two parts before carefully forming a mask for the smoke to be filtered through.

Clutching unto the boy tightly, she ran through the flames with a sea of thoughts going through her mind.

"Are…you okay Lydia?" Ryan asked.

"Yes, but what we should think about now is how to get you to safety!" Lydia coughed, responding to the little boy's question.

Running away from that very specific area, she luckily missed a huge stone which was crushing on her head.

"There!" Ryan pointed at a door which wasn't much affected by the fire. "We'll be safer there and pray for help!"

"You're right Ryan!" Lydia said this as she saw the entire building would be surrounded in more flames, those one couldn't run over from.

Entering the room, she closed the door, preventing the fire from getting in more (although flames burned in the room, the smoke was less.)

On the floor Lydia sat, dropping Ryan from her arms as the little boy stayed closer with his face showing fear.

"Ryan….." she called him with the softest reassuring voice.

"L-lydia?," Ryan looked at her tired face, "Have anyone fallen in love with you?"

The boy's question made her smile, "I'll answer you genuinely, Yes!"

"Then I tell you Lydia, hold that person dearly because love is one strong word! So far so good, he truly loves you!" Ryan's eyes turned watery, before long, he burst into tears.

As he cried, an index finger softly wiped off the tears.

"Don't cry Ryan, I understand your life is complicated, but crying won't solve anything. You will one day grow up to become a m-"

"Lydia, you behave like my mother before she entered into a stupid contract marriage which led her to unfortunately marrying a mad man!"

"Uh?"

"My father is Mr Frenado, a Mafia boss from the worst of the worst!," Ryan looked at the ceiling which was slowly burning, "a small family owned him two hundred thousand pounds, so he gave them a hard time but lusted on their daughter, a young beautiful promising girl. He couldn't restrain himself, so he called the family one day saying their debts were paid off. His words made the family shiver and shake, knowing he doesn't give without taking back. They asked him what he wanted and he gave them the hardest- their daughter.

Cursing under his roof, the parents refused and on that spot they fell when he placed another huge threat on the family's entire lifetime generation which was; if they don't, the entire bloodline would suffer in his hands and blood would spill in their house everyday.

Defeated, they gave up the dearest to their heart but luckily; so they thought, was a contract Marriage.

Years passed by and the contract finally expired and the woman thought she was free from his abuse.

Her luck was cut short when she carried his baby....

SEVEN YEARS EARLIER...

"My lady, you're pregnant!" The Mafia boss' personal doctor happily congratulated a woman, dressed in a red overflowing gown, her black hair; neatly groomed fell backwards with a beautiful butterfly pin keeping it in place.

The doctor suddenly became surprised when he saw her burst into tears.

Won't a woman be Happy to see her baby?

"My la-" his words were cut short when the woman grabbed hold of his coat.

"Give me!" She screamed at him.

"Give you what My lady?"

"Contraceptive pills!"

"What?!"

"Please Doctor, I cannot bring this child to this cruel world! I need to end this madness!" She fell on her knees, begging the confused doctor.

"I'm so sorry Lady Elissa, but I cannot do that!" The doctor helped her stand up. "As a matter of fact, it's a boy!"

The doctor thought that would make her feel happier but instead, she took it as a greater grief, a pain to be cried upon.

"Please Doctor! I beg-"

The door flung open as some men stood by the entrance.

Knowing who it was, Elissa pulled it together and quickly wiped off her tears.

A man, handsome as ever came inside the room, his black hair fell on his eyes and coldness greeted the tension.

"Any news?" He directed the question to the doctor.

"Mr Frenado," the doctor stated with his peripheral vision looking at the shiver in the woman's eye, "There's no news yet"

"I knew she had an infertile womb!" He lit a cigarette with one of his cold eyes on her. "Follow me! There's a gathering soon!"

He directed the question to Elissa who dared not disobey.

Leaving the doctor who slipped something into her furred jacket without any noticing, Elissa muttered a thank you.
