Purple Wraith

"Host, you're as efficient as ever. In just two days, you've risen the progress bar to forty percent. Haai, I must have done a ton of good deeds in my past life. That's why I was assigned such an outstanding host."

Tejumole shifted her gaze from the TV to look at the soliloquizing monkey.

"Mm, it's better to do things on time." Her reply was as straightforward as usual. She had her focus on Ranta as she was a bit tired from watching the show.

"That means, you'll be going out again tonight?" Ranta asked in a probing tone.

"No." With her eyes half-closed, Tejumole slouched across the sofa, then continued speaking in a relaxed manner.

"I'm going to wait for things to cool off a bit. The organisation and the police department are incredibly cautious already, while the security at Erujeje's base camp is bound to be tightened. I'll wait a few days before going over to complete the mission. Three days should be alright." Tejumole said in her listless position.

She only ever said so many words when speaking with Ranta or if she was talking to her child.

With Ranta, she could communicate telepathically, so it was very effective to chat for long without having to move her lips.

"…alright."Ranta nodded his head to show his understanding.

Although, her words made sense, he still couldn't resist rolling his eyes at Tejumole.

Sure, the group would strengthen their defences. So much that even a fly would be unable to get in.

However, the host had a flipping system for a reason.

A few minor hindrances were nothing to her.

'You're just being lazy host…'Ranta chided Tejumole in his mind before reminding her of a previous matter.

"Right host. Don't you what to check out the items you can buy with the points? There's a ton of mouth watering offers just waiting for you!"

"Oh…" Tejumole opened her eyes, then accessed the screen when she heard this.

"Store."

"Host, these look promising, he-he."

"Host, didn't I tell you? These items are superb. He-he, quick, quick! Buy them quickly!"

Tejumole was silent.

The items in the store seemed very impressive and honestly, she wanted them all.

The quirky remarks by the system was something she had gotten used to.

After four years, she had drawn the conclusion that this system was designed by a crazy person.

Tejumole felt her hands itch. She truly desired these items, but…

"You say it like I can buy everything at once. Why not take a look at my points? Do the math and tell me if my current points would cover the entire cost."

"Tsk…still, you can choose at least two items from the list. Hurry!"

"Okay…you're even more excited than I am."

Ranta: You're excited? I couldn't tell.

Tejumole skimmed through the list, concentrating on the uses of each item.

While she did that, she muttered in a voice loud enough for Ranta to hear.

"Are you trying to rip me off? These are far too expensive. I'll become broke at this rate. And I only just said hello to the high life. Haai…"

She ended her grumbling with a sigh, giving Ranta occasional glances. Seemingly, trying to convey something with her eyes.

"Calm down host. Although these items are expensive, you can't deny how incredible they are. Besides, you've only just completed the side quest. This is a 2.5stars mission and the points awarded would definitely be enormous. He-he, and don't forget the special rewards after you finish this mission. Tsk, I'm getting a bit jealous myself."

"What do you need any of these for? Moreover, were you a broker in your past life?"

"Well…" He drew the "e" from the word.

"I haven't told you this but, when a host no longer needs the objects gotten from the store, they can give them to their S.A.I to consume."

"Really?"

"Yes. If we eat the items from the system, we can raise our levels. And when we devour these items, the system still has a way of recovering them. Therefore, we S.A.I get to raise our levels, you get to throw out your thrash while the system reclaims the items and returns them to the inventory. It's a win-win-win situation."

Tejumole froze a bit.

She was silent for a while before turning her head in a dramatically slow manner.

With a trembling voice, she said.

"…so, what you're telling me is…these items, they're basically the excretory products of you S.A.I. In other words….these items are all poop?"

Ranta: "…"

"Uhm…well…you see…if you put it that way, it sounds bad? But our poo…our waste products are not the same as organic beings! Don't think too much!"

"Close." In a deadpan voice, Tejumole said this word, and the floating screen vanished from her view.

She said nothing, but Ranta knew his host was about to lose it.

'Why'd I have to open my big mouth?' Ranta was tense, and he prayed for some kind of miracle that would soothe the savage beast.

'Oh system gods, please hear your devotee's cries.'

"Ran…"

"Good morning."

"Ahh, it's an angel. Host, your child is here! Bye-bye!" With that, the red monkey shed tears of joy and vanished with a "poof", leaving Tejumole alone on the sofa.

"Morning, little one." Her voice had reverted to its normal tone.

She didn't seem as annoyed as she was before.

What a rapid change.
