Chapter 73

The car ride to the countryside was excruciating but Roman had finally got Poppy talking to him again and they quickly made up. He needed to because she was starting to become very confused about his family dynamic. Hell, he was fairly confused himself. Anton had talked about how much he was craving some real Italian cooking the entire way which raised some red flags.

"Remi, I thought you're mother was dead," Poppy asked, confused on why they were talking about Momma D'Amico and her amazing food. "You always say God rest her soul."

Remi giggled. "She is. To us. Sort of."

"What are you talking about? That's crazy. You said she was dead. You even talk like she's gone."

"Momma isn't dead," he said with an annoyed huff. "She just tells us we are dead to her, so it's an ongoing joke to everyone in the family but me. When we are in the US, she's dead. Really dead. In Italy, she's alive and well."
