Chapter 123

Once settled into a hotel in Indiana, they headed to the Fields/Parker farm. Poppy was biting her nails while her mother held her other hand. It was clear her daughter was a wreck. She hadn't seen her father, Frank Parker, since this all started, and she wasn't sure how she felt about seeing him. When the limo rolled into the long farm's dusty driveway, Rick sat up, looking at his family home with a smile.

"Tate, look! There are my girls. My kids are here."

Wrapping his arms around him, Tate kissed his forehead. "I'll keep my distance until you talk with them."

"Thanks. I think that's best."

"Shit," Poppy mumbled under her breath as they passed under the farm's entrance sign that dangled over the roadway saying, Field's Family Farms."

"What's wrong, Sis?"

"I just saw Randy looking out the front window. Don't let them be assholes," she said as they started exiting the car.

"Too late." He chuckled.
