Couture Criminals

The next day, Remi and Poppy hadn't slept waiting for Luke to return. Remi assured her Luke and Roman were still on the same page and that whatever they had planned would draw out the Serpent.

As shoes ticked on the tile floor, Remi and Poppy jumped up finding him looking like a mess. He just looked at Poppy with sad eyes and the only words he could get out were, "I'm sorry."

Poppy eyes sent wide. "No… no… NO!" she screamed as she realized what he was saying. "Do you say it. Don't you dare say it."

Remi was shaking as she looked at her boyfriend. "Luke, what happened?"

"He's dead. Roman was shot last night in an ambush on his parent's yacht during a party."

"NO!" she yelled, dropping to her knees in tears and Luke went to pull the women into his arms.

This was killing him and hearing the wailing of the women's cries, he was almost on the verge of breaking.
