'It seems this is the end of my story..' a seemingly dead thought, which felt so unclear made its way to life.
"Nine!".
"Nine!".
"Nine answer me…".
"Please!".
'So much yelling from them.. just like back then.. but this time it sounds so much nicer..' still this persons thoughts moved around in waves, to the noise of yelling voices, the sparks of wires that shorted out and the wave of blood dripping from the persons head.
The sounds of static came from the persons front, while the two yelling voices were drowned out. The red and green lights within this space flashed. Helping the person stay awake as a groan of pain came from there lips. Using what strength they had to move their hand, pressing the button for the radio, holding it so it stayed on as they laid back once more.
"Enough.. please stop yelling girls.. I'm here." The persons cracked lips moved, allowing a very young but horse voice to escape. While the sounds of their heavy breathing could be heard by everyone who would be listeners.
"Thank god! Nine you need to fall back, the rest will cover you! Please!" From the radio that flashed to life, a voice came through, it was cracked but still it couldn't hide the youth and sorrow in the young lady's voice.
"No! I won't leave it to chance.. they are coming to pull you out now! I I I.. I I don't need you being a hero! Please nine!" Before the other could finish, the sounds of things moving and a yell was heard as another voice came through the radio. This voice was not much older then the first but was a lot more hysterical. A voice full of desperation with no room to argue back or so they thought.
"Nine listen to us.. if you don't fall back, you will.." the other voice wanted to say, but cracked as she was trying to get out words, words the boy knew she would never want to say.
"Hmm.. I know." While getting their voices together, the girls on the line stopped. The boys voice coming through with what seemed to be a grunt, laugh and pain in it. "How.. how will they get to me?" The boys voice was calm, so calm it was scary as they spoke once more. "More importantly.. how many, how many more will die.." his voice seemed to be distant even when it was so clear to the other listeners. "How many will die to save one life, which didn't ask for it! Tell me how many more of my.. Of our.. of our family should die!" The boys voice climbed a little, reaching a yell at the end as he slammed his hand onto the screen. "Tell me.. if you have an actual plan, I'm all ears! but if it's just more of the same.. I don't need it." Soon the boys voice returned to normal as the world fell silent.
"Nine.. do you think they don't understand that?" While he put his head down to think, the boy stopped as he heard the younger girls voice again. "Do you think we want this? That we want to send them to die.. that we want to watch any of you die?!" The boy stopped, hearing the girls strained voice, it was easy to tell she was crying as she yelled those words to him.
"She's right nine.. I know everyone is listening, waiting and it would be horrible of me not to say how I actually feel, that I want you to live, that I want you to see that sea you talk about so much, to stop all this fighting. But I can't say that, not with out hurting everyone.. I don't want anyone to die, none of us to.. so many of us have fallen for this, do you think they don't understand what we asked. That they don't know how selfish we are but they didn't even bat and eye.. you think it doesn't hurt!" The older of the girls spoke, her words beating on all those who listened equally, the truth even if it hurt was still the truth.
"Nine.. how many times have you saved many of us? Put yourself into the deepest parts of the war for us. We are not doing this to die.. but to live. To make a better way for all of us! For our group, No our family needs you." Another voice came through, it was sharpe and deep. A voice the boy knew all to well as he looked up to the ceiling of his cockpit.
"Even if we die here, we can fight again, you can fight again.." another boys voice said as it chimed in to the conversation.
"Captain! We are willing to lay down our lives for you! No matter the cost we will fight!" More chimed in along the radio as there hearts and voice filled with resolve.
"That's just the thing isn't it.. you think this is what you should do because I saved you? Then tell me.. what would it mean if you died anyway? What's the meaning in that?" The boys voice fell out of his mouth, his words calm as he listened to everyone. "Honestly.. there is no place better for me.. then right here where I am, I was born to die on the field of battle." A slight laugh left his lips as he spoke, a kind of laugh you get when you know it's hopeless. "I saved you, to be more then this, more than me, more then just a soldier, to be a family. More then I could ever ask for..I truly only want that." His voice was low as he finally spoke words that froze everyone. "I don't want anyone dying for me, truly, because I never cared about dying to begin with.".
The radio was deathly silent, his words reaching everyone as his mic was cut off. It was only when the connection was cut, did the world feel like it slowly started to move again.
"Nine!" The younger and older girl yelled.
"Nine! Pick up now!" They both said yelling their heart out at this point. "Someone! Orga! Mikaazuki! Akihiro! Anyone Do someth.." the girls called out to the members but stopped, covering there mouth. From the large screen at the base, a picture came in of something that cause them to fall to their knees.
The boy sat in a cockpit, the sparks of wires around him, the blood on his forehead but would stood out the most, was the massive swords, one looking like it completely cut off his left arm as it came from the cockpits back. While the other was from the left and right through his midsection.
"Gasp* nine!" The older girl said as she looked up to the picture, seeing his black eyes, dead as always, his pushed back blonde hair dripping blood and his smile as he looked at the screen.
"See, I'm dead already.." the boy said, not from the inner radio but it spoke outwards, outside of his mecha, out to all the enemies and friends out there. "There was no reason to save me, I never needed saving."
—————————————————————————————————————————.
"I'm sorry.. sorry I didn't say this before. I just wanted to know, to know if there was another way, even sorry to the enemies out there as I wasted so much of your time." The boys voice went out to everyone, everyone on this battlefield. "I guess, somewhere along the way.. along the way I got tired. Tired of fighting.. maybe it's that thing I asked about to the girls.. what was it again?" His voice was more of him talking to himself then anything as his screen showed the other mechas around him.
"Love? Was that would I started to feel.. well even now I don't know." His voice got low but those who were listening closely heard it. "Well that's enough of that, force of the alliance, sorry to keep you waiting." The boy said as he looked at a black tactical mecha in front of himself.
"Far from me to get between a soldier and his dying words.." a voice came from the mecha, even if it was annoyed. The woman's voice held understanding.
"We need to do something! Orga! send a unit! someone! Mika! Please.." the younger girl yelled as they looked at the screen, watching orga turn his face, as Mika looked blankly as his hand moved a little.
"Thank you! And all other forces from my side! This is your Captain nine! If I even see you come here.. I promise I'll kill you myself." The boy nine yelled out, hearing the conversation that was going on after thanking the enemy. "I told you it was no use.. so move back and orga.. don't disappoint me."
"Damn it!" Orga the commander of this group yelled, slamming his hand on the top of the tank like mecha he sat on. "Mika, Akihiro, the rest of you move back, we're breaking away while nine holds them off." Orga's words came out flat as he spoke them slowly. Getting grunts in response as everyone who was frozen moved.
"You better win captain!"
"Give them hell!"
"Cut them down, Captain!"
Other voices of nines units yelled, some if not all cried as they yelled out in there hearts. Their yells felt like they rang across the battlefield, a wave of some kind seemed to wash over all the enemies who heard their war cry's.
"Orga! You can.. you can't.. please." The older of the girl pressed her head to the floor, hearing the order of Orga, tears filled her eyes as her heart felt like it was being pulled from her chest, her hand going to her stomach as she looked at the screen of nine, only to turn away.
"He.. he will come back.. he always does.." the younger girl who was equally a mess said, coming over to the girl on her knees as she tried to say words of comfort to her , only making each other cry more.
"Girls.." while in the middle of their moment, the world slowed to a stop, their eyes looking up as a sweet voice called out to them. "Nine." Both the girls said as they looked at his smiling face.
"Maybe you won't watch.. maybe you can't.. I won't force you to. This is my last battle, I'm sorry.. that I couldn't come back, not this time." With a sweet voice, nine said as his smile grew a little. "I think I felt it.. maybe I felt it.. that emotion you were talking about." He said with a smile, laughing lightly as his left arm moved. "It doesn't.. it doesn't feel to bad, most of all. I'm glad you two, were the once who helped me feel.. well anything at all." He said as the sounds of metal creaked, the screen showing his mecha forcing itself to stand, it's body missing a right leg and it's left arm. Bullets all over the frame, its shine of purple and gold faded, it's giant spear holding its body up as he looked at the sky.
"Love?" The girls said, remembering a emotion he asked of long ago, even though he couldn't hear them anymore, there hearts bleeding but racing at the same time.
—————————————————————————————————————————-.
"For so long, so very long everyone asked me many things." Nine said, lifting his mecha as he looked out to the land below him, to the mechas who seemed to still be on guard but listened. "Who I am, where I'm from, what I wanted, why I fought.." words fell from nines mouth like water, while he closed his eyes a little.
"Who I am? I don't know.. I don't even have a real name." Nine said, his voice fading as he tried to remember something. "Where I'm from? I don't know either, the first memories I have, I killed everyone I ever knew." His words were listened to by all as he looked up to the sky. "What I want? Now that's were my words become a mess.. what I wanted back then.. and what I want now are so different." His words were never the best, as he messed up a lot of them but he still got it out, making the girls and friends listen deeper.
"What I wanted then.. all I wanted.. was war." Nine said his truth, all be it messy he got it out. Making his girls and friends look out with wide eyes. "War was what I was born for, what I was made for.. and like now, where I would meet my end." His smile faded a little as his dead black eyes looked up with even more meaning. "What I want now.. is to see the endless see of stars, to travel where ever I want, but for that I need peace." His eyes had a little light come to them as he looked up at the sky. "Peace.. for me and them. Strange right? Wanting peace but being made for war?" Nine let out a chuckle as he finally looked down, his spear moving as he got ready.
"What I fight for? I think you guys know it.. from the name you gave me. To my unit.. the way we rush into a fight live or die. I am.. and iron blooded orphan. It's in my blood.." after that, his mechas eyes glowed red as steam came from its joints.
"I was born on the battle field.. I will die on one. Well as long as they are ok.. it doesn't really matter if I fall here." A roar seemed to come from the mecha as it got low to the ground his face mask moving as metal teeth could be seen.
"Now come, bring stimulation to my existence.. one more time.."
