Chapter 21 - Tree Miracles

Pan got lost in Pallas's scriptures and illustrations for so long that he ended up missing his forge class and nearly missed his mandatory "fallen and their varieties" class.

Class in which he will just arrive.

'It has a lot of people, well it's mandatory after all.' Pan thought, sitting at one of the tables at the front of the class.

The classroom had the same design as the botany room, white walls, the tables and chairs were made of light wood and a large rectangular white stone was behind the instructor's desk. The only difference between this class and the botany class was that all the seats were taken.

 'Where is Ava?' Thought Pan.

But after noticing a little more of the general context of the environment, he noticed that most of the students in class fifty who were here were the last ones.

'It should probably be the same for the other classes, tsk.' Thought Pan.

"Hello everyone," said the instructor standing beside the table. "My name is Eva and I will be responsible for instructing you about the fallen, their origin, what they eat, where they rest, how they act, among others", she then sat down at the table and took a sheet of paper, sighed and looked for class.  "Let's start with your origin then, does anyone know?" Asked Eva, putting the paper aside.

"I know, Instructor Eva," said a pretty girl with freckles, the same girl who had tried to cheer the group up on the trip to the Order.

"Go ahead," said the instructor, placing both hands on her chin.

"Aham," coughed the apprentice before continuing. "Eons ago, in the dawn of humanity, there was a man who was worshiped as a god. But the man in question was not content with just being worshiped as one, he wanted to be a god," the girl said slowly, feeling uncomfortable. for all the attention directed to her.

 "Go ahead," the teacher encouraged.

"Man then, being blinded by his insatiable quest for power and the divine, committed the greatest of sacrilege, he sacrificed the pure and innocent and fed on the essence of their souls, man then used that power to open the divine way. But nothing divine came from their desecration, only endless night descended into the world and with the night they came, profound beings of unspeakable terror. Fallen they were called, for from the dark and boundless sky they came and for ages mankind bled. But in the middle of the night a child was born, pure and full of light, a beacon in the midst of darkness. The child then grew up, he was no longer a child of light but its lord and for humanity he fought incessantly against the terrors of the night, but in the end, evil was insidious and always found a way to remain. Seeing the "Lord of light" who from sacrifice was born the endless night, soon from self-sacrifice it would end. The lord then tore off his skin and wove from it a veil to hold the night, putting an end to fall. Already their blood was boiled and forged in the star that now lights up the days. As for their bones, they were pulverized and thrown into the sea. These are the three miracles, the veil, the salt and the light, this is the legacy left to humanity," ended the young woman full of enthusiasm for not having stuttered in the middle of the story.

 'How much bullshit.' Thought Pan.

 "Correct, miss?" Asked the instructor.

"Yara, my name is Yara," replied the young woman with glee.

"Right, you are correct apprentice Yara, this is the origin of the fallen, the "religious" view in this case is one of the most popular. As for the other origin, it is much simpler, it says that the fallen are just creations of nature like everything else. And that we just see them as evil, for that's human morality and the human point of view, which is at best, poor," claimed the teacher with what appeared to be a hint of derision for the origin "religious" of the fallen.

Which made Pan begin to understand why Instructor Eva was responsible for her class. As she herself said, the dogma of the three miracles was the most popular.

'She was assigned to the worst class because she is too pragmatic for the concepts of order.' Thought Pan.

"But your origin is not that important, believe what you will, but remember that the fallen will eviscerate you regardless of your beliefs," the instructor stated, looking hard at the class.  "That's why the most important thing is to know how to kill them."
