Bittersweet Goodbye

Eva's POV

The funeral arrangements for grandmother were steeped in tradition and significance. First her body was bathed and anointed with scented oils by a group of priestesses known as the Caretakers of The Departed. Then she was dressed in the traditional burial attire which typically included a flowing gown adorned with intricate embroidery and jewelry symbolizing a

her status.

The Soulstone of Elysia, a special amulet which was believed to guide her soul in the afterlife, was placed around her neck.

The Merynians observed a period of mourning that lasted for three days. Merynians were encouraged to visit the royal palace to pay their respects and offer condolences.

I kept an eye out for Lisa and Cecilia but I had either missed them or they did not come at all. During this time the entire Kingdom was draped in plum banners which represented the death of an important royal.
