The dumplings stared at the couple who stayed silent to each other across the dining table. Nobody moved their chopsticks or spoons.

"They said those things to you?" Lance Hua coldly asked, his eyes devoid of sympathy. Chiaki didn't know which personality it was he wore tonight, but she had promised Kayla, Azure, and Gin to report the behaviour to him so that she wouldn't be denigrated even further.

"They did, my lord," she replied curtly.

"What did you do to provoke them?"

Chiaki wanted to whine and scream that she just minded her own business, but realising that she wouldn't get any brownie points if she did that, Chiaki replied with patience and coolheadedness. "I minded my own business, discussing about the horses with Lady Kayla in the stable." Chiaki had explained her priorities about the event, so Lance Hua didn't ask anymore why they were in there.
