Chapter-13 Pointe Noire, 4° 46′ 43″ S, 11° 51′ 49″ E Harbor

Doctor Cecilia pressed her body against the wall so she could not be seen from outside. Mister Bob and Adisa looked around across the street as if they were investigating something. What were they looking for?

She saw the answer. Half-running, Mister Bob and Adisa crossed the busy street. Followed by a shadowy figure flashed quickly in front of the cafe. Fabumi!

Mister Bob and Adisa were chasing Fabumi! Cecilia saw what was going on clearly through the window. But she was a bit relief when Fabumi almost reached the corner to turn while Mister Bob and Adisa were panting and struggling to keep up with Fabumi.

Doctor Cecilia was about to smile in amusement when suddenly she saw Fabumi was being ambushed and grabbed by four people on the corner. Cecilia saw Fabumi struggling and trying to fight back. But he had no chance facing four stocky men at once. Cecilia covered her mouth to keep from screaming. She had a chance to take photos from her smartphone when Fabumi was dragged into a van stopping next to them.

The commotion caught the attention of the entire cafe. Cecilia saw an opportunity. She quickly placed a note on the table, apologized several times silently, and walked out of the cafe while grabbing a gadget on the table of a visitors who was captivated watching the incident through the window.

Cecilia walked quickly into a small alley. She would be so embarrassed if she was caught stealing people's property. She quickly punched a several numbers on the device.

"Hi Ivan. This is Cecil. Stop! Don't ask too many questions. Just listen…"

Doctor Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. She tossed the stolen device into a trash can and walked fast to a bank. Ivan Chenkhov had wired some money to her account. She was going to meet him in Moscow.

Luckily, she always carried her passport. She made sure that every morning it was in her pocket. She lived in a forest that required a high survival plan. She enjoyed her way of living but she was always on guard.

There would be a flight to Moscow from Johannesburg the next day. If she could fly in from Brazzaville tonight, then she would be able to see Ivan the day after. Cecilia was determined to uncover everything. Including Marc's plan with whomever he was conspiring with in WHO.

By chance, she was able to send her photos to Ivan earlier. She was hoping that Ivan had a connection who could help identify those people in her photos. And Cecilia just received a shocking answer from Ivan.

Two people who ambushed Fabumi turned out to be field agents of the France foreign intelligence agency, DGSE. Secret agents are involved here! It's crazy!

Cecilia did not want to share her notes about what went on in the Congo Basin with Ivan. Information could be intercepted in one way or another. What happened with Marc made Cecilia more careful. Marc's team could tell where she was because she shared her location without thinking.

That night Cecilia managed to land in Brazzaville and boarded a connecting flight to Johannesburg. She already had an Aeroflot ticket to Moscow and would be transiting in London. Maybe she could swing by her mother's home in London.

The journey went smoothly. She had no trouble boarding the plane going to Moscow the next morning. Only one thing bothered her. Ivan sent a message that she should not go anywhere while transiting in London.

----

Fabumi did not know that he was in the house of a wealthy French businessman in the outskirts of Brazzaville. An entrepreneur who invested a lot in Congo and was also a senior DGSE agent.

He was a senior DGSE agent who was later financed by Neogen Pharmachyst to venture in Congo. It was a perfect cover for undercover operations of his agents.

That's why NP was often called the deep state because its influence went as far as the DGSE. That was why Pierre could mobilize DGSE's assets for the benefit of NP. It's complicated, but things like this happened in developed countries with many interests that must be protected and secured.

Fabumi was no longer treated harshly. This time he was provided with a large plush room. Complete with bathroom and had 5-star hotel facilities. The only things missing were communication equipment and internet connection. It was a luxurious prison.

Fabumi was not surprised. He realized that to them he was just a farm animal that needed to be cared so that when slaughtered they would get high quality and expensive meat. Fabumi smiled bitterly as he tried to turn on the television.

----

Cecilia felt wearied and tired while waiting for her connecting flight at London's Heathrow. She wanted to sneak out from the airport for a quick visit to her mother. But she could not ignore Ivan's message.

She needed to find distractions to spend hours of waiting. She got up and walked around the waiting room. Accidently her eyes caught a terrible news on the airport giant TV screen. A whaling ship caught fire in the Arctic waters. The fate of the 40 crew members were unknown. Only one body was found washed up on the beach near the city of Oslo. Cecilia shook her head. She felt sorry for the ship's crews.

Arctic? Cecilia immediately remembered her cousin Cathy who worked in a research laboratory in the North Pole. How was she doing?

Out of boredom from transit, Cecilia started calling several of her cousins to find Cathy's number.

Got it! A phone call to the North Pole would be extremely expensive. But that was not her concern. She received a huge amount of money from Ivan. She was not sure why she was worth that much. Anyway, she got her distraction. Cathy was the same age as her and they were close to each other.

"Hi Cat. It's Cecil. How's the North Pole? Is it safe? Have you met any cute bears? Hahaha." Cecilia tried to be funny.

"Oh my God, Cecil! It's been such a long time huh? But sorry I can't talk too long. I have an important and secret work to do….shhh."

Cecilia laughed so hard that people turned to her.

"I wasn't joking Cecil. We've got the biggest discovery of the century, I guess. But it's very dangerous. Uhm, you took doctoral program in virology right? I think I can tell you this. But shhh…it's a secret."

Cecilia stopped laughing. Apparently Cathy was very serious. She listened to Cathy's explanation. As time went on, her face became paler.

"Holy cow! Cat, you must be very careful even though you're in the data department. So what happened to the whale-hunting ship had something to do with this? My God! The world is being threatened from the artic and the equator sides!" Cecilia didn't want to cause Cathy to panic by not telling her about what happened in Congo Basin. She knew that her cousin had a hard time keeping secrets. Moreover, it was a secret about the possibility of a large scale epidemic or pandemic from where Ebola originated.

Cecilia closed her eyes for a long time after ending the call with Cathy. Incident of a similar magnitude in fact also occurred in the arctic hemisphere. The cause was a deadly virus from ancient times. At the same time, in the Congo Basin, bacteria that had been stored for a long time in the ground was dug up.

Cecilia started imagining cities under quarantined. Dear God!
