He estimated my look, doubtful. I lifted my hand and make the promise sign. He looked down for a moment. When it was returned to me, the face became more serious.
"Okay. But I won't be there at five, just go home. It can be opened."
"No! You need to return it now, Rustov. Be there at four or else ..."
The corner of his lip lifted at my threat. He looked humored by it for some reason.
"Alright. I'll try. I'm going in."
I nodded. I waved and turned my back on him. I'm glad Daddy didn't lose his gift handkerchief. I was so worried the whole morning. That's why when I arrived at the bistro, I eagerly confronted Enzo.
He was talking to a man on his age when I arrived. I went on my usual spot. And of course, the owner himself approached me.
"You're lively now, ah? Your lover answered you something?"
I smirked sarcastically.
"You think a boy could make me happy that way? No, Enzo. Don't expect me to do such a thing."
"So, what? You plan to grow old maiden?"
I could not answer.
"That's enough to talk about that. Give me a mango shake and blueberry cheescakes."
"Woah. No cocktails on order?" he wondered. When I come here, I always have alcohol drinks.
"Hundreds straight first now," I joked.
He smiled and shook his head and called the waiter to take my order. I crossed my legs under the table and glanced at the table parallel to ours. That was Rustov's table when I last came here. A couple was occupying it now. The chisel went down my throat as I looked at them with a pure smile and still sweet.
"I bet, that will also separate ..."
Enzo followed what I was looking at so he immediately got what I meant. He chuckled when he looked at me again.
"You know, you're just too bitter. Because, NBSB. Can you try to have a boyfriend?"
I went home.
"You should have a girlfriend. You're old."
His lips parted, looking so offended.
"I'm only twenty-four, Drey! I'm not old!"
I laughed. Later, in the middle of the conversation I received a text from Ate. The smile I had faded. I felt guilt for not telling him the truth.
The last time she called, which was some days ago, she told me she's pregnant with their second child and she was so happy about it. I would have said that about what I found out but I restrained myself because I know it's delicate when pregnant. I don't want her to have a hard time during pregnancy.
Ate Diana:
Why didn't you say you fought last week? If I hadn't asked Janice about you, I wouldn't have known. Call me if you have time later tonight.
I sighed and hid the phone in the small sling bag.
After glancing at Enzo who's now talking with someone at the bar counter, I sipped on my mango shake. If before I was light -hearted, now I am not. I pitied my sister. Mommy is to blame for a lot, but why are Ate and I always affected?
Ate's dream was to be an architect. But due to early pregnancy she was unable to continue the course. Klyde is capable so he never thought of going back to school because he said he didn't want to share time with the family. Ate loves her family so much, it was okay with her. I mean, Klyde shouldn't have led him in the decision -making. She shouldn't let him control her. But she only told me it's okay because after all, he is her husband and she trusts his decisions.
I don't agree with her on that matter, though. It's not because you're married that she's the one she always follows. In a relationship, it should always be balanced. Equal rights. Above all, the woman should not underestimate the man. The woman shouldn't always d
epend to the man, she should have her own stand.
"Hi, pretty. Waiting for someone?" A man maybe on his early twenties aggressively sat in front of me.
I looked at him lazily. How come this man had the guts to sit on my table? Who is he?
"Nicks! Shit!" Another man hurriedly came towards the arogant guy, panicking. It was as if he was going to have a nervous breakdown when he stopped in front of me. He pulled the friend upright.
"I-I'm sorry, Audrey. It's just that my cousin is here and I don't know you yet ..."
My eyebrows rose. "Alis."
He nodded indulgently and pulled the other guy away. That's always the case. When you don't know me, just let the wind blow fast. You know, reluctant to approach. I have some courageous suitors, though. Your children are celebrities, and there really is something to throw out.
"Why did you stop me? I typed that!"
"That's escareal, what are you! Son of the owner of the factory I work for!"
I tiredly looked at the big glass of mango shake. It's gone but there's still not even a shadow of what I'm waiting for. It was still three, but I was so bored.
What was he supposed to do there and still have some time? Does he have a football practice game?
If that's the case, will he still be here at four o'clock? But I need your handkerchief! He should be here by four. He broke up with me when he didn't come. I've given so much time for this then he won't show up?
Bored, I just turned on my cellphone and looked at the messy inbox. There were chats from some classmates about school stuffs, there were also with lovers. I haven't opened it yet and scrolled through the facebook newsfeed. I am not really into social media. I have instagram and twitter, but it's not very used even though that's the trend now. I don't have a large circle, anyway. I think I don't need too much online interaction.
"You've been here before, ah? It's quarter to four, Drey. You're waiting for something, aren't you?" and Enzo.
I was depressed as I played with the straw of another mango shake.
"Rustov has my handkerchief, I'll just take it. And I'm waiting for almost three hours now."
"Just because of the handkerchief, you waited three hours?" shocked he said.
