Chapter 37: Thoughtful Gestures

As Angela left her office for the day, she noticed a car idling by the dumpsters. It was far enough away that she could pretend not to see it. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Yet something in her gut told her that she was meant to go over to the car.

As she got closer, she realized it was Tiny sitting in the driver's seat. She tried to act casual, as if he were an old pal and not a menacing gangster. He rolled down his window as she approached and motioned for her to get in the car.

“Long time, no see,” she said with the same fake cheer she’d used on Christian.

“Not long enough,” Tiny complained. Without looking at her, he handed her a small phone. “Boss needs you to check in with him every day from now on,” he said with no small amount of boredom.

She stared at the phone with confusion. “I’ve been sending him information every day. What more can he possibly want?”
