It was as if this shift had exhausted all of his strength, but I knew that it was because he could not accept the fact that a loved one had died before him.

Although a rift had formed between them, they were still father and son after all, and blood was thicker than water. Anton had already lost Aidi, and now he had lost Panse. One could only imagine how much of a blow this was to him.

After the fire had burned out, most of the rescue team dispersed and only a few skilled and necessary personnel stayed behind to continue searching for Panse's body.

I walked forward and carefully placed my hand on his shoulder. I could feel the tremble in his body and hear his soft yet audible whimpers. Anton's clenched fists pressed into his knees and I saw the red burn marks on the back of his right hand.

"Found him! Here! Come help us get him out!" More rescue personnel ran toward the one who first shouted.
