[Joseph's P.O.V]
I understood what the doctor meant, and I responded with a smile.
I brought Amanda back home, and after preparing some life-sustaining medication in the lab, I hooked her up to an IV. It was a temporary solution to slow down the progression of her illness until I could complete my experiment.
After making sure Amanda was settled, I immediately returned to my work. Amanda couldn't afford to wait any longer. In reality, the experimental drug I had developed was ready for use, but following the protocol, it had to undergo testing on lab animals to confirm its safety and effectiveness before clinical use. I didn't want Amanda to be the guinea pig.
Occasionally, in the middle of my experiments, I checked on Amanda's condition. She was sleeping soundly, and her breathing had become more regular, which gave me a slight sense of relief. As long as she didn't experience additional symptoms, that would be great.
