Don't Let Them In

[Ellie's P.O.V]

"Anton, they are absolutely bold. I refuse to believe there isn't the mayor's involvement in all of this," I said angrily.

At this point, we could already see the city wall of Stowe Pack, and the recent arrest had occurred closest to it. Several residents were still entering and leaving the city gates, essentially sending people directly to the other side. How could there be no measures taken unless the mayor was silently permitting it?

"I know," Anton responded in a calm voice. "The data he reported had issues from the start, and now it's evident. However, it's not enough to convict him. He must have done much more in this matter."

Carlyle was already standing at the city gate when Anton pulled the car to a stop in front of him. Anton rolled down the car window, and there was a moment of surprise in Carlyle's expression as he looked at us.

"Don't reveal our identities," Anton whispered in an extremely low voice.
