"Ignorance is not a crime," Anton said softly, "but we'll have to wait for the investigation results."
He made a good point, and everything would depend on Ollie's investigation.
After discussing our plan for tonight in a few words, we heard noises from the living room. Immediately, we closed our mouths and listened carefully to the sounds from outside. Footsteps echoed, and we guessed that Matthew had awakened, so we opened the door and walked out.
Indeed, Matthew had already regained consciousness and was sitting on the sofa with a bewildered look.
Anton and I exchanged a glance and, acting as if nothing had happened, I said to Matthew, "Mr. Matthew, you're awake? Did you sleep well?"
Matthew's body stiffened upon hearing my voice, and he looked at me in a state of panic. "Mister, madam, I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I was clearly cleaning, but suddenly, I found myself here, asleep."
