Diversion

[Ellie's P.O.V]

It felt as if fate was mocking me, always intertwining. I believed that in the first half of my life, I hadn't done anything unreasonable, yet my children always seemed to suffer undeserved misfortunes, even though falling ill is a normal part of life.

I distinctly felt Anton's body stiffen for a moment. He whispered apologetically, "I'm sorry, it's my fault."

I was momentarily stunned, then realized he was reflecting on the past, blaming himself for having driven me away. A complex feeling welled up in my heart, but I gradually calmed down.

Blaming fate or others wouldn't solve anything. Since every second was precious, it was better to use these painful moments for constructive purposes.

Wasn't it just two issues at hand? Panse needed to be captured, and I must obtain the Sproutless. But before the law could punish Panse, I wanted him to suffer a bit. After all, it's normal to get hurt during a capture.
