Although I was aware that this was merely Anton's tactic, the content was something Panse had mentioned before. Given that it was more or less accurate, there seemed no need to delve into whether he was trying to mitigate the punishment for Panse.

Now that Panse had died, any further punishment would only be directed at a corpse. No one could inflict pain on a dead body, nor could they vent their anger, leaving only the expulsion from the pack as a definite and unalterable decision. In other words, Panse was now considered a rogue wolf.

However, Panse was fortunate to be in the period when Anton and I were changing the laws. Being werewolves ourselves, why should we use ranks to limit one's status?
