Chapter 24

Tartarus. Entrance to the Kingdom of the Dead.

As soon as I was at the gate and took a good look at the amazing pattern, depicting endless torture, I started questioning my plan. If I failed, I risked becoming a victim of the tormentors of Radamant. I could withstand any suffering, but not the fact that my mistake could make my close people suffer.

This world was less than humane. Any wrongdoing led to punishment and torture. The human world was not perfect either. However, our law enforcement agencies protected us from violence, theft, and self-will, but not from love.

If my plan failed, which was likely to happen, my entire family would be punished. My parents would be erased or destroyed, and my brothers and sister would face the same fate. I did not want to put anyone in danger, so I had to think twice before starting something that could not be stopped.

I had to play perfectly well or the payback would be inevitably waiting for me.
