Leaving the Atmosphere

It was three days before the day of the Reverence. Hundreds of planes were being flown out to Santorium, and the people were finding places to stay until the Reverence came. As everyone tuned into the indicated channel, a broadcast was made by the Elysian Congregation, displaying the seven High Priests standing in line, with each one wearing white astronaut suits.

"Hello all of Elysia. The day has finally come that we embark on our journey to the Moon. The rocket by now has been fully assembled and tested for safety. All that's left ahead of us is the three day journey before we land in Her presence. May MONA guide us on our trip past the atmosphere and outside of the planet's boundaries, out into the very region that our Mother so dearly watches over us from." Raphael began to tear up in the middle of his speech. "Thank you all for dedicating your time so righteously to Menesism. If it weren't for the outstanding growth in faith that Elysia has reached today, we would not be in the position to meet MONA herself." Raphael looked to his left at the rest of the High Priests in line with him. "I introduce you all, Elysia, to the chosen ones who'll be travelling to the Moon to host the Reverence with MONA. There is I, High Priest Raphael of Santorium, High Priest Uriel of Cantony, High Priest Michael of Westmark, High Priest Ariel of Aljaffe, High Priest Chamuel of Arvard, High Priest Jophiel of Mentrite, and High Priest Gabriel of Hovenburg. Us seven High Priests of the Elysian Congregation will be lifting off in an approximate hour. We will see you all on the other side of the atmosphere, Elysia."

As the time approached its final countdown, the seven High Priests got into their seats in the rocket and prepared for liftoff. The official functionality of the rocket's propellors fully depended on Michael's constructional command, of which he'd worked on for nearly a year prior.

"Ten."

The High Priests began flicking their respective switches.

"Nine, eight—"

The heat accumulated within their suits and the cockpit rose exponentially.

"Seven, six, five—"

Sweat began to trickle down their foreheads.

"Four."

Their bodies trembled with anticipation.

"Three."

They gripped their seats tightly.

"Two."

All of Elysia watched the live broadcast of the rocket with suspense.

"One."

The propellors engaged. In a matter of seconds, smoke engulfed the entire area that surrounded the rocket, and soon, the bright burning light of the propellor's flames could be seen leaving the cloud of dust left behind. The rocket had successfully lifted off the ground, and in a matter of seconds the group of High Priests would soon be leaving the atmosphere.

"It's working!" Uriel called out. Everyone else on board cheered along as they anxiously tore past the clouds at the sky's perimeter. From bright blue day light, to the darkened black space, Elysian Congregation's rocket soared towards the Moon at an aggressive speed. The trip would take three days to arrive, so until then, the High Priests sat tight with anticipation.
