The whole place became eerily quiet. The people were awaiting what Evie had to say.
"First of all, I want to thank you all, I want to thank you all who had been there for me since I started releasing my songs, I want to thank you for making me who am I today and taking me to my position right now, looking back at everything I had done to be here, I smile, indeed hard work pays. You guys are the strength that keeps me going, hoping that tomorrow would be a better day. What else can I ask for when I have the most wonderful, pleasant and best set of fans ever! You guys do not know how much of an effect you have on me. Your comments, posts, and the use of my songs to do dance videos are all things of joy to me. It is just wonderful that you guys appreciate my efforts and show me how much I mean to you guys. You guys are the best!" Evie screamed and there was a loud thud of cheers from the crowd of people.
[A/N: not only Evie talking but I am also talking, you guys mean the whole wide WORLD to me. Thank you for reading this book]
Evie waited for the cheers to die down, it took quite a long time but she was patient enough to wait. They always made her day.
"But…" Evie trailed off not knowing how she was going to tell them the bad news.
A single tear fell from her eyes and it was as if it was the key to the whole tears which were threatening to fall from her eyes.
Her eyes clouded with tears yet the people were still cheering for her.
"Evie! Evie! Evie! Evie!" Her name filled the entire arena and Evie just could not help but smile amidst her tears.
She managed to compose herself and continued,
"But I have to announce that I would be off the music industry until further notice," she announced while the people in turn were shocked, some had their mouths wide open. Did she just say she was going off the music industry? That she would no longer be releasing songs anymore? That there was no more Evie?
"No! No! No! No!" The people roared and for some moment, Evie wished her parents were here to see how people loved her, but she discarded those thoughts, knowing who her parents were, they would never consider her feelings, they never considered, so why now? Why would they consider her feelings now?
"I am sincerely sorry but I have lots of things on my neck and I need to attend to them quickly. I am sorry for this bad news but there is one promise that I would make. I promise I will come back one day, maybe not tomorrow or even ten years later but I must surely come back, this is not the end of Evie," she stated before dropping the microphone on the floor and turning to leave so she would not break down in front of her fans again.
There was a roar of 'no' coming from the audience, Evie can not go just like that? What one earth was troubling her that she had to quit singing. Singing was her destiny.
The moment Evie stepped backstage, reporters filled the entire place,
"Why are you quitting singing now?"
"Why did you announce you are no longer releasing songs anymore?"
"When do we intend for your return?"
"Don't you think it hurts your fans saying you are off the music industry?"
"Why did you quit singing?"
"Do you have some sort of health challenge that you are off the music industry?"
"Do you have personal or family issues that make you quit singing?"
Question upon question filled Evie's ears, but she replied to none as the blinding lights of their camera flashed on her eyes.
"Take me out of here!" Evie yelled, she had, had more than enough. What sort of rubbish is this? Don't these reporters know when they are wanted and not?
Luckily for her, Mia had arrived with the SWAT team and they took her to a more secure place.
Evie sat down quietly, while Mia observed her, not saying a word to her. Her manager walked in.
"Miss Evie," the manager rushed to hug Evie, she was still sitting on the chair.
"What was that?" The manager asked as she pulled away from the hug.
"Many things," Evie replied weakly.
"I am sorry it had to be like this, this was not how I wanted to end my career, this was not even close to it!" Evie was almost on the verge of crying.
"Take it, easy ma'am, everything would be alright, but sincerely speaking, I least expected it," Mia chipped in sadly.
"Do you mind sharing the problem with me… us?" the manager asked causing Evie to glare at her.
Who was she to ask for what was bothering her?
'Come on Evie! There are only concerned about your welfare' Evie yelled at herself before turning to say,
"I am sorry, I did not mean to glare at you, many things have been happening to me recently and it seems too much for me to take," a lone tear escaped her eyes and all hell let loose.
Evie cried like never before.
Who was going to save her? Who was going to be her guide? Why was her life so messed up? Is she the only young lady on planet earth? Who had she wronged? Where had she gone wrong?
All these questions she asked herself while crying her eyes out. She cried all her pain, frustration and anger out. Was this her doom?
