CHPT2:BIZARRE FOR LOVE

By 5 pm, Caren was already home. Sammy had not yet come from work. He had like one hour or two.

Caren first prepared some nice tea, seasoned with an aromatic tea masala. When the tea was ready, she took off her pantie which she had worn the whole day. She carefully placed it on the mouth of the thermos flask and slowly poured the tea through the pantie which had some smell of her vaginal fluids, sweat and dust.

Caren felt disgusted by whatever she was doing but she thought she was doing it so that Sammy will not want to leave her.

Caren then got some water, went to the bathroom and took with her the pantie she had used to sieve the tea. She bathed fast, washed the pantie and returned to the house to relax waiting for Sammy. She decided to start preparing for supper while waiting for Sammy.

Sammy got home at exactly 6:30 pm. It was a cold evening. He was shivering. After giving her a hug, he asked, "Is there some warm tea I can take? I am feeling so cold today!"

"Yes, honey. There is some in the thermos." Caren said. She showed Sammy to take a seat as she serves him with a cup of tea.

As soon as Caren poured the cup of tea for Sammy, he began drinking the tea intending to make himself a bit warmer. The tea was hot. It was also sweet due to the aromatic tea masala used to cook it. "The tea is so tasty!" Sammy said.

"Just like me." Caren said.

Sammy laughed and said, "Get me something to eat with the tea."

Caren went outside the gate and bought 3 samosas from someone who was cooking them at a roadside selling to people with some tea. She brought for Sammy who got buy eating the samosas and drinking the tea.

"Why are you not drinking the tea with me?" Sammy asked.

"I took mine a few minutes before you got here. I don't feel like taking another. Just drink dear. I am ok. let me prepare supper for us." Caren said.

Caren watched as Sammy finished his first cup of tea. He stood up and poured for himself another cup of tea. "Be cooking such nice and sweet tea. I can take the entire thermos." Sammy said feeling so delighted.

"When cooked with love, it becomes sweet." Caren said jokingly.

Once supper was ready, they ate together. After eating, Caren drunk a glass of water and then said, "I do not have space for the tea."

"Then I will drink all of it, seems you don't want some tea today." Sammy said.

"No problem, when you take it, it is like I have taken it." Caren said.

Sammy took all the tea. Caren got busy washing the dishes while thinking: this will do the trick. He will now love me like never before. Even if I make silly demands, I know he will fulfil.

----

The following morning, Caren woke up and prepared breakfast fast for them to take and leave for work.

Caren and Sammy left together. Caren however took a matatu to work. As soon as she met Mercy, she told her what she did with Sammy's tea. Mercy laughed so hard and said, "You want to tie a man to one woman? It does not work. These men will always want more women."

"But Sammy is different." Caren said.

"All the best. I will also try with my man when I get him." Mercy said.

That evening, Caren also made sure to be home earlier. She not only sieved tea through her pantie, she also sieved the water she used to prepare the food. She prepared some nice meat stew, adding some spices she had not used while cooking. She then prepared Ugali and waited for Sammy to come home.

Sammy got home when it was almost 8 pm.

"Why are you late?" Caren asked Sammy.

"Got held up at work. My boss came and we had a meeting, staff meeting. We had asked him to consider increasing our salaries since we had not had salary increment since we got employed there." Sammy said.

"What did he say?" Caren asked.

"He said: if you are not happy with what I am giving you, you are free to leave, go out there and get someone who will pay you better." Sammy said and shook his head.

"So?" Caren asked.

"So, what? What do you mean?" Sammy asked.

"Will you look for another job?" Caren asked.

"From where? Eh! From where? This is Nairobi. You don't wake up and get another job. There are over a million people looking for jobs. You simply don't just get another job so easily." Sammy said.

Caren looked at Sammy with her arms akimbo and said, "One thing I hate about you is your lack of self-belief. You doubt yourself so much. If your current employer cannot pay you better, why not look for another job? Are you going to stay with someone who does not pay you the amount that you deserve?"

"Hey, listen to yourself. In Nairobi, no one cares about you. The employers care about their own profits and companies. You can leave if you wish. Now, for us who are working, we are here for survival. We have to work to live in Nairobi. It is not that easy. That is why we work hard to keep our jobs. Even if they pay little money, we have no choice." Sammy said.

"Ok, I hate the fact that I got married to a lazy ambitionless man." Caren told Sammy.

"God! Has it come to this?" Sammy asked.

"If you don't work hard. I am going to leave you. You think you are the only man that can have me. Lazy men should be left to make money first before getting married. You should have not rushed to marry me if you knew you could not give me the life that I deserve." Caren said.

The words pierced Sammy's heart like an arrow. He looked at Caren. She began to cry while standing there. When he tried to pull her towards himself, she passed by him and went to bed. Sammy followed her to bed.

"Honey, I know I have failed as a man, but please, understand my situation. It is not like I am not trying to make you happy. I am trying. But with the loans that are facing me, I have no choice. I cannot risk losing this job. I will work harder, finish paying the loan and we shall get a better life. Trust me. I am trying.

Now, let us eat." Sammy told Caren.

Sammy served the food.

"I don't feel like eating." Caren said.

"I will feed you." Sammy told Caren.

Sammy sat at the edge of the bed and began feeding Caren the food. When she imagined how she prepared the food, she wanted to refuse the food but seeing how passionate Sammy was on feeding her, she accepted the food.

"Be patient with me. I will get myself a better job. I also do not wish for our child to be born here. I want us to have a better house, better job. And if God blesses us more, we shall have our own car. I shall be dropping you at work every morning and then I proceed to my workplace." Sammy said.

"Another man offered a lift to drop me at my workplace. But I refused. I am however sometimes tempted since being heavily pregnant, I am getting tired fast." Caren said while holding her abdomen. She could feel her baby kicking.

"Nairobi is not a safe place, do not board strange cars. Some people here are devil worshipers. They can go to sacrifice you." Sammy told Caren.

"I will not." Caren said, "But work hard so that you can also get your own car soon. Aren't you a man like the men who are driving their own cars?"

Sammy looked at Caren and said, "I am. Thank you for pushing me to work harder. You are a blessing to me. Though sometimes you use harsh words but it reminds me that I should work harder."

Caren smiled and said, "You know, when a man gets married, he becomes like the first born of the woman he marries. You are my first-born boy, I should push you harder to realize your potential. After all, behind every successful man, there is a woman."
