"Mannequin, something is wrong."
High Priestess Mannequin jumped out of the bed after she heard Fisher's low voice. Her eyes went wide, that wasn't supposed to happen. No. Whoever was sent to purgatory couldn't have a way to communicate with the ones on the earth.
How did he do that?
High Priestess shut her eyes, inhaled deeply, and then opened her eyes. There was no room for failing. Not when she spent more than a decade formulating it. She preferred the nightmares she had of purgatory whenever she fell asleep to the idea that her plans had failed.
Her room was icy, frankly, unsuitable for humans.
She listened keenly, trying to hear if Doctor Bedelia has come to report something new to her. When she heard nothing, she gave her bed one last glance the bed looked unmade, surely, if anyone came into the room, they wouldn't think that she has gone that far.
The room screamed, "the lady has just stepped out of the room, she will be back soon."
"Get over it." She thought. "This should take a minute." She mumbled as she conjured a portal and stepped in.
The portal's color was yellow, over time she had gotten used to it. Long ago, she used to make green portals, beautiful portals that led people to weddings, schools, and all the beautiful places anyone would think of.
Yellow meant danger and broken rules.
And that was what she has been doing since she came back. If anyone found out about it, she surely will be thrown out.
But she had used it for long that she has finally gotten used to it.
They broke her.
She would do anything to break them.
Over and over.
The portal stopped spinning. She opened her eyes and found herself in the middle of a town. That wasn't where she wanted to go. She looked around, and when she saw the street was empty, she formed another portal.
"Get me to where I want. Please." She mumbled.
Just after the last word got out of her lips, she cringed. What was she, a savior?
She entered it and in no time, she was in the middle of the forest.
The birds were chipping and not happy.
Crying for anyone to make the wind stop because it was going to destroy their homes. High priestess Mannequin waved her hand and the wind stopped. She glanced around because she never trusted her surroundings, no matter where she was, she would make sure that truthfully there was no unwanted guest, lurking behind the trees.
Once she confirmed that there was no one, she strode slowly to the cluster of trees in front of her. She patted them by only waving. Once again, she looked back, making sure no eyes were watching.
Paranoid much?
She didn't have a choice.
The cave had frozen, she made sure of that. Ice was at the corner and even on the roof of the cave. Unconducive for animals. And so, it was hers and hers alone.
High Priestess Mannequin pulled over her yellow shawl, she hold on to it tighter. If it was any other day, she would have made the ice disappear. But not today, it was an in-and-out kind of thing.
The voices started, warning her that she was doing the wrong this. She ignored it, they were nothing.
She moved down slowly and opened the pot in the far corner. There were many other pots. And each time, she got it right. She planned everything well. If and only if anyone followed her into the cave, she would point at the pots and say, "I am in the pot business."
The soil around was suitable for that.
There was a stream not far away.
As said earlier, she had a perfect plan. The perfect answer for everything.
High Priestess Mannequin opened the pot and looked into it. Her mind went dark as she listened to the screams. She hoped to see Alpha Fisher in one particular corner she sent him to, but when she didn't see him, she shook the pot.
It changed its direction and then she saw Alpha Fisher floating in the air.
What the hell? She wondered.
"Why is he almost in purgatory?" Mannequin asked with her nose flared up. She thought by now his new body with his lost soul would be wandering about, screaming. "Hell. Hell. Help."
Maybe she messed up something?
No. It couldn't be.
She wouldn't mess it up.
The body at the chamber for the dead had no soul. She made sure of that.
"No this can't be. Bring me back." She said and strengthened up.
She was back in the cave, filled with the pots. She shuffled them around, anger seething in her, murmuring how unacceptable that would be. Once the pots were disarranged, she sat on the mud. Even ignoring the sticky filthy dirt on her behind. She tapped her chin, something had gone wrong.
Her eyes closed as the voices came back. She yelled. "Leave me alone."
The voices continued, her yellings were nothing. She groaned and stood. She strode towards the opening. Once she was out, she returned things how they were. She broke a twig and smelt at it. She has gotten used to doing that every time she left the cave.
Before she looked around to see if there was anyone, she heard a voice calling. She conjured a portal hurriedly. In a flash, she appeared in the middle of her room.
"High Priestess, I wanted to ask, what do you think is happening with my brother right now?" Doctor Bedelia asked from outside.
High Priestess Mannequin opened the door with a fake smile on, "he is okay."
That wasn't what she wanted to say though; she wanted to say, "I am as confused as you are."
Doctor Bedelia nodded at her and before she could say anything, her phone chimed. Pepper has texted, informing her that the pack was sorry and Alpha Rinzler would be leaving soon.
