Sweet Excuses to be with you.

Canary went to the library when she had some rest after breakfast. The library was illuminated by the translucent light offered by the white curtains that spread wide on the windows. As it was spring, the cool and gentle wind could be felt from the slits left by the curtains as they covered the windows. People were silently reading and analyzing their books. A heart-soothing environment could be felt in the library. As she entered the library, she sat at her favorite spot which was near the window of the philosophy section. She loved philosophy so she picked up a book but found that someone had grabbed the book from the other side. She slightly tilted the book to see the other person and the eyes looked familiar. That person loosened his grip on the book and let Canary take it. Who was it again…? As Canary picked up the book, the person on the other side had gone. She turned back and jolted with surprise because she found those familiar eyes again.

"Hyacinth! You surprised me."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."

"Do you need help with something?"

"Oh! No. I…uh…I was here to read that book but you picked it up."

"Oh, sorry! Here take it. I would read it when you are done with it."

"Oh! No, I didn't mean it that way. I meant you can go ahead and read it. I would read another book until you are done."

"Okay, then. Thank you."

She sat and started reading the book. Hyacinth sat opposite her and would secretly stare at her for a long time. He liked the expressions Canary made while being absorbed in the book like when she smiled and when her eyes would look wide open when reading the book. He would be very delighted that his heart would race sometimes. He would feel warm around her.

"Hyacinth, I am done with this book. Thank you for waiting."

"No worries. I am a very patient man."

"Hahaha! Really? What an awesome man you are then."

Hyacinth gently smiled with a slight blush on his face.

After reading the book, Canary stood up from her seat and helped the people around her who were having trouble as she was a librarian assistant.

It was her time for another job. She took her bag and was just about to leave the entrance when she bumped into someone.

"Are you blind? Can't you see the person ahead?"

"Ma'am! It wasn't my fault. You didn't see me because you were busy with your phone."

"Are you blaming me? Couldn't you just avoid me when you were that clear-sighted?"

"Ma'am, please! You're being unreasonable."

"Am I being unreasonable? Is that how you talk to the elders?"

Canary was enraged for being wronged by the woman but she kept her calm. Hyacinth was behind her. He was infuriated at the woman.

"If you apologize nicely, I will let it slide. If not then you'll see what I am capable of."

"Oh? Then I should see what you are capable of because I am not going to apologize for I am not at fault."

"You brat!"

She was about to slap Canary but Hyacinth stepped in and stopped her grabbing her hand. The woman was enraged.

"Who are you? Another spoiled brat? Let go of my hand."

"Ma'am, you are at fault. I saw the whole thing. Not only did you not admit your mistake, but you were also even about to slap a high school student. We may report you if you insist further. But we'll let it slide if you apologize nicely."

"What! Me? Apologize? In your dreams!"

"Then I am afraid we have to report you."

The arrogant woman was reluctant to apologize but she did so half-heartedly.

"Okay! I am sorry! Happy now."

Saying these words, she abruptly left the site. Canary thanked Hyacinth.

"Thank you, Hyacinth."

"Don't mention it. She was at fault."

"I should go now. I am running late for my other job."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Canary went straight ahead to the cafe.

"Hello, Daisy!"

"Hello!"

"Where should I start from?"

"Wash the glasses over there. After that help me in making a cold coffee."

"Okay!"

She worked and helped Daisy diligently and they both parted ways for their homes after the off time.

While she was walking home, it was completely dark, and silent on the street. Only the street lights shone, breaking the pitch black darkness to some extent. Canary felt steps following her, she speeded up because she didn't feel safe. But she found the steps following her to be at the same pace. She started running but someone grabbed her hand from behind. She screamed and was scared to the point that her heart was going to bump out of her chest.

"Canary! It's me, Hyacinth!"

When she heard him and turned, she opened her eyes and took a breath of relief.

"You truly scared me! I thought it was a pervert."

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

"Why were you following me?"

"No! You misunderstood! I am just heading from the library. I saw you here walking alone halfway so I thought it would be wise to watch you from behind for your safety. But you started running so I stopped you as it isn't safe at this time. I truly didn't mean any harm."

"Okay. Please do not do that next time or I will mistake you for a pervert again."

"Yes. I'll keep that in mind."

"Thank you."

"Let me drop you home."

"No. It's fine. It's not that far from here."

"I insist. It isn't safe at this time."

"Okay, thank you."

They started walking along with each other.

"Why were you so late today? Normally you would reach before me, I guess."

"Well, I joined another part-time job."

"Okay. I usually get home at this time from the library. Would you mind if I drop you home every time?"

"It's okay. I don't want to burden you."

"It's truly not a burden. I'll be glad to. If you don't mind, that is."

"Okay. If you don't have a problem, I am fine with it."

He watched her enter her home and left.
