Bwaka! Bak, Bak! Bwaka!
"Fucking roosters..." I rub the sleep from my eyes as I before starting my day.
Rolling from my cot, I crawl my way out of my tent with a change of clothes as I make my way down to the lake to wash up before breakfast.
I see the other early risers, Erik, Jonna, Rayya, and Stenvar, also making their way down to the lake. I nod to them, before we split up, men going one way with the women going another.
The cool water shocks me awake as I quickly wash the grim off my body before getting back out and throwing on my clothes.
Making my way back to camp I see Kasia coming down from the main house with all the kids in tow, seeing Britte and Sissel my heart throbs in guilt over what happened to their father but I shake it off as I go over to lead the morning meeting as I've been doing since that blockhead has been gone.
Cough, cough...
"Mornin' everyone!" I shout above the din of everyone else waking up and coming down for breakfast.
"We'll be doin' the same as we ave been with the Boss gone. We'll be trainin' and working on fortifyin' the camp, same as usual, you know your assignments. Eat up good since we've got a full day ahead of us!" I tell them, getting a half-hearted clapping from those who are barely awake as they all grab their breakfast and Gringar comes over to give me a report on his duties.
"Lokir, scout reports say nothing is out of the ordinary around us and rubble removal over at Helgen is going well, good idea incorporating that into the daily training." Gringar reports as he awaits my response.
"Good, figured we could double up duties while the Boss is lookin' for those extra hands the town needs to get back on it's feet. Keep up the patrols, can't get lazy now. Speakin' of, how's Erik doin' in trainin'?" I ask him, hoping the kid is doing well.
"The welp is doing alright, sturdy build and power, still needs to work on his killer instinct though. All that power is for nothing if he doesn't have the heart to wield it." Gringar explains as I see some of the group getting ready for the morning run to Helgen.
After taking care of the children and sending them off to their teachers, I see Kasia getting on a set of light, leather armor as she joins the group for their training with everyone stretching as I make my way over to the next big project.
Building up the first defensive wall around the main house along with some spotting and archery towers, since we had to postpone the home building to prioritize our defense.
Me, Atris, Benor, and Jouane work together to get the wall assembled.
Atris and Benor chop down the trees, using the horse from the cart driver, that was hired by Kasia not to long ago, to drag the downed trees for me to process them by stripping off the branches and sharpening the logs for the wall sections and notching the wood as needed for the structural pieces before having Jouane dig the holes and placing the pieces with his magic.
We work like this until around noon when the morning runners make it back from their training and work at Helgen, Gringar shouting at them all the way.
"Keep your knees up maggots! I've seen corpses run faster than you! You gonna let that hearthwife show you all up! Keep it moving!" Gringar berates everyone else that had joined the morning training, as I see Kasia leading the pack as they make it back to the heart of camp, a large fire pit.
Erik coming in close behind her as everyone is panting heavily as they make their way into the heart of camp, getting greeted by Jonna who had been working on having lunch ready for everyone, making a delicious smelling fried potato meal with some cheese and seared chicken.
I call over to Atris and Benor, "Come on, break for lunch!" And I motion to Jouane who also follows me down for lunch.
Vladimar and Falion came down from their training with the kids, all of them looking tired and hungry as they join everyone else for lunch.
Sissel rushes over to me excitedly, "Mr. Lokir, Mr. Lokir look what I learned in Mr. Falion's class today!"
Sissel exclaims as she scrunches up her face as she focuses intently on her hands as a faint glowing ball fills the open space between her hands, casting a faint, pale blue glow across her face.
It flickers out almost as quickly as she had made it but she looks up at me with pride despite seeming exhausted from her attempt at casting what looked like [Magelight] to me.
"Great job, Sissel! That was really good!" I say ruffling her hair as I see Britte look at us from a distance before going with the rest of the kids down for lunch.
Lunch goes by well enough, everyone eats their fill before breaking off to their assignments, some hunting or patrolling while the rest help us build up the defenses, Kasia takes the kids to a lesson on reading and math, though most of them are dragging their feet about it.
I see M'rissi off near the lake with a fishing pole, resting at the shore and Sofia seems to be sneaking up on her, trying to grab her tail only to get smacked by M'rissi's fishing pole.
Vladimar seems to be sparing with Erik who seems to be trying to figure out how to properly wield his great sword and out of the corner of my eye I catch Britte having snuck away from her lessons with Kasia in order to watch the two spare, seeming as excited as Sissel was early showing me her magic.
Making my way over to her, I call out, "Enjoying the show?"
(Author's Note: Sorry everyone, was working on an NSFW chapter arc, but didn't like it so I'm rewriting it and submitting a back up chapter, hope you enjoy.)
