A Vampire's Deliberations

Paranoia struck me hard—for a fleeting moment, before it disappeared and I sighed.

"Perhaps I may have just overestimated that Human boy? I expected him to reach Averon Kingdom to deliver the news, but he perhaps died and so that's why the blood bat disappeared?" I said and shrugged. "That seems like the likely scenario."

"Lord Blackwell?" Rose looked at me quietly. "Human...?"

I noticed the way she seemed nervous, but I answered dismissively. "I spared a Human from among the fighters—if only to deliver a message to Averon."

"Deliver?!"

"Please, even if I chose not to send a message and open up a discussion, it's safe to say that your people will send armies upon my back—unless they're more cowards than I thought they were." I said and then looked at Rose.

She probably didn't have any idea why she was sent here by Eleanor and yet here she was—present all the same.
