There was something to be said of the gods in Osborne.
Much history could have been made as an example from history books in the Archives of Aurelias, but the being or girl who now identified herself as 'Strawberry' would have said this. They were not infallible, omniscient and most importantly were not omnibenevolent.
Yes, there was some good in them–some of them, but they were not perfect.
Case in point would be the Sun God who had chosen the Paladin to be his pawn in Osborne.
The reasons he moved in the world were far from beneficial and he also did not hesitate in killing a human or more to get what he wanted.
But why would a god care about the lesser beings?
If you were a simple person and saw a group of ants around your abode–wouldn't you have simply killed them all as pests?
