Chapter Five (Part 4): Omen

"Hi~ I'm glad you two summoned me~ Oh, do I smell tears? Your Highness, are you crying~"

The moment that tall and slender figure of Pastor Orobas appeared beside me out of nowhere, just like earlier when I had stumbled upon that white room, I was glad that I didn't flinch. But rather, I just froze. Since he came in the exact moment Nagisa was offering me her handkerchief to wipe my own tears.

"Hi... Pastor Orobas."

"Your Highness, how about you just call me 'Orobas'~ It feels much much closer~"

"Then you should stop calling me 'Your Highness' first... Please."

Hearing my plea, Pastor Orobas simply giggled, and then he turned to tease Nagisa next, which the law enforcer didn't seem to be bothered one bit, or it was just her face being like that, I don't know. Also, during the whole conversation, the priest's voice kept switching between girly and manly so naturally and effortlessly, it started to confuse me.

I mean, yes, I knew he was male - 100% male, but...

"Mr. Ozwald, may Mr. Orobas have your hand?" A--

"Excuse me?"

Before I got to fathom the reason how one's voice could be so versatile, all of a sudden Nagisa decided to ask me that question, stopping my train of thoughts in its track.

"My hand... My hand what?" I asked her back as I was pointing my finger at my own face, then my eyes flickered to Pastor Orobas. My hand? In his hand? Did I hear that right?

"May I have your hand, Your Highness?"

At the very first second, I heard myself answer 'Of course, yes.' to that heavenly gorgeous face of the demon priest in my mind, but then my instinct immediately ordered me to slap my own cheek lightly, waking myself up from his charm.

"I don't think that would be appropriate, Pastor Orobas..." said the me who was rubbing my mildly swollen cheek while trying to act like everything was still cool.

"Oh, come on~ I am in no way that kind of perverted pastor like you humans are~ You're having trouble finding your own signature weapon, right? One of my super special powers is the all-knowing eyes; I can see your past or your future, simply by touching your skin~"

"I'll just look into your future and see where you'll find your weapon~ Sounds super cool, right~"

"..." Uh...

Well, what could I say; a demon is still a demon. But I guessed, in order to begin saving the world, I just had no choice. And I tried asking Nagisa via my eyes 'Is this act of using demonic power even acceptable under the Order's roof???', her answer was nothing more than her default cold expression.

Well, I felt like letting out a sigh so bad, but I didn't.

"...Please don't look at anything weird." then uttered the me who let himself get dragged around by the 'higher-ups'.

"You have my words~"

Being pessimistic as I was, I just couldn't help but picture the worst-case scenario of placing my hand on a demon's hand. Let us hope that I wouldn't accidentally get myself into selling my own soul.

Then, the very first moment our hands touched...

"Oh?!" Suddenly, the demon priest let out a cry of surprise.

"...?!"

"Lucifer's bum hair, I forgot that I have no mana~ Nagisa, I'm so sorry I can't use my power right now! I need to recharge!"

"..." Uh... Oh...

'Mana' as the magical energy in some RPG games? And here I thought that demons don't know the concept of stamina or limitation.

Nagisa while she was looking at Pastor Orobas acting all silly and fooling around, her face still didn't change much, there was no look of irritation in her eyes or anything, but then she said something like "Mr. Orobas, you're always like this..." and her eyes narrowed a bit - by 'a bit' I mean 0.5 millimeters.

Suddenly, I got chills running down my spine, seeing her making that face.

"Don't say something like that when you guys always rely on me to keep an eye out for your omen, please~"

"Fine. But we can't wait for your Aethereal energy to recharge, it'll take days."

"Then we just gotta recharge it the rough way~"

After listening to Pastor Orobas giggling and continued teasing the law enforcer, I had concluded that demons may not be invincible, but their mind must be strong as f*ck.

"Aren't we lucky that I'm not busy today... Come, Mr. Ozwald. It's dangerous for you to stay out here alone."

"A--? OK. Wherever you want me to go..." When the law enforcer gave me an order, I simply heeded it. We all headed out of the arsenal, without making any further questions, both me and the priest.

"Your Highness, let me tell you a little secret, we can try holding hands while we're walking and see if my power would work~"

"E-Excuse me?"

However, as we were walking side-by-side, the demon just seemed to can't help himself but keep teasing me - 'playing' with me, and maybe gazing at me with a glare in his eyes, it made me feel like I was some sort of a tasty cut of meat.

'So many men, all the men, would ask for your blessing.' Suddenly, those words of some particular silly kitty did ring up in my mind as if they couldn't wait to enlighten me, causing me to glance at those non-human golden eyes and silver hair.

Ah... I see. He, too, was a man - probably not MAN, but MALE.

All the males seemed to be affected by whatever the scent I had got here.

"Why are you looking at me like that, Your Highness? Is there anything stuck on my face~"

"No... Not really. It's beautiful, that's it."

"Aww~ Aren't you a sweet talker~"

Even a male demon would be lured into this trap as sweet as honey.

Such a thought had me taking in a long deep breath, somehow I got a feeling that the demon priest wouldn't even try to hold himself back one bit if things were to go down. And yes, I just had to compare our walk to the one I did with Leo, it just couldn't be helped.
