(I) Beast with a superior knowledge

When the beast let out a murderous roar at Rin, I thought it was all over. I felt ashamed because I couldn't protect the one girl I cared about.

I am frail, pitiful, and wretched, and all of these factors are about to take my Rin's life.

Browny was seized from her grasp and lifted high enough.

Suddenly, Rin did something which I least expected, she started resisting and shouted at the crimson beast. She remained brave until the end when the beast let off a ferocious roar powerful enough to shake a mountain.

The beast then started speaking, its attention locked on Browny. Suddenly, I heard the sound of someone falling to the ground; it was Rin.

She fell so close to the beast, I tried to go near her, but immediately the beast stopped speaking and took Rin in its other hand.

This time, it approached me slowly, carrying both Rin and Browny in it's hands. It placed Rin beside me and walked a short distance, before stopping near the fruit trees. It began speaking again, this time focusing on Browny in its hands.

Sparkling bubbles began to emerge from both trees, with reddish-pink bubbles emerging from the goose plum tree and greenish-white bubbles emerging from the papaws fruit tree. Those bubbles began to gather around Browny and eventually entered his body.

I don't know what's going on right now, and I doubt I'll understand even if someone explains it to me. But I know one thing now: it's so beautiful that I can feel warmth all around me. After a few minutes, the bubbles stopped entering Browny's body and began to gather near Rin and enter her body. I don't try to stop the bubbles or panic this time.

I feel surprisingly safe as if there is nothing to fear. This is how a baby feels when it is in its mother's arms, and I know this feeling better than anyone else. While I was admiring these wonders, the crimson beast began to look around, as if it was looking for something.

Then it came towards us, again carrying Rin on its shoulder and Browny in its other hand. It began to move in the direction of the tree house.

I'm not even scared of that beast anymore;

I started following the crimson beast without realizing it.

It made a big jump and entered the tree house at the top of the tree; obviously, I couldn't make that jump, so I took the steps.

When I entered the tree house, I discovered the beast sitting in the corner munching the fruits I had dropped earlier, while Rin and Browny were sleeping peacefully. I decided to sit in the corner of the room opposite the beast, who stared at me for a few seconds before ignoring me and returning to eating the fruits.

Right now, my mind is racing with questions like, "Who is he?" Where did he come from? Why doesn't he hurt us? And what exactly is the bubble thing that emerged from trees? I have a lot of questions for him, but I'm not sure if he'll understand our language.

Suddenly, a fruit rolled towards me, and when I looked up, the beast had begun rolling some fruits in my direction. I assumed that it was attempting to tell me to eat. I started eating some goose plums.

I suddenly heard it speaking, but I was unable to understand any of it. I had this confused expression on my face, and I'm not surprised to see it speaking at this point. The beast appeared more intelligent than Rin; it recognized that I was having difficulty understanding its language and began scratching some words on the floor with its nails.

To be honest, I had no idea what it was saying; if you believe I can understand its drawing, you are mistaken. I was completely clueless right now, and my expression was even more confused.

I had a fantastic idea, I unzipped Rin's bag and took a book she always carries, and I tried to show it to the beast so it might understand how we communicate using different letters and words. I opened the book and showed it to the beast, it grabbed the book from my hands, the book looked so small in its hand.

After a few seconds of looking at the book, it began scratching our language on the floor with its nails. Then I realized it was not only more brilliant than Rin, but also more brilliant than our entire village.

I don't understand what it was attempting to convey by writing the word on the floor, so I simply spelled the word written on the floor, and it wrote a different word again, which I spelled.

The beast now made a sound while pointing to a single letter that appears in both of the words it used previously. I'm taken aback to hear the sound since it's exactly the same as the sound we use for that letter.

Now I understand what this beast was trying to say; he wants to learn our language and is using the book and me as guides; rather than scratching a different word on the floor, he pointed to a line in the book and started staring at me.

I clearly understood that it wishes for me to read the sentence, therefore I do so. We went on like this for around twenty to thirty pages, which took over two hours.

I am now completely exhausted.

The beast realized my voice is becoming feeble, that I am running out of stamina, so it drops the book on the floor and walked toward the door, then leaped into the forest, almost as if it were flying.

I'm not sure what happened to him or where it's heading, but I'm not going to think about it right now because I'm hungry. I need to get some rest.

After a few minutes, the entire tree house shook as someone jumped from great heights. It's the beast, no doubt needed, I refused to say "welcome home" at this stage, instead focusing on taking a rest on the floor.

I slowly closed my eyes, then the beast dropped something beside me that sounded like a bunch of little fruits. When I opened my eyes, there were numerous fruits on the floor. Because it sensed my exhaustion, the beast went and collected all these fruits.

I started crying out of nowhere; it wasn't deliberate, and I wasn't feeling particularly sad; tears just started flowing without my notice. For someone who had lived alone for so long, I had always wished for someone to ask me, "Did you had your food?" or something like "Are you feeling tired?" but it never happened, as a result, when I witnessed the beast acting like my own parent, without realizing it, my eyes welled up with tears.

This is when I thought that calling him a beast was a little impolite at this point, so I decided to ask him his name, and I tried to ask him his name with action by writing my name on the floor with the juice of one of the fruits.

However, it appears that he did not learn all of the letters, as he had difficulty interpreting them. So, I put a halt to the intention of exchanging names for a bit. Then, once again, we started reading the book while munching on the fruits.

It's almost as if we've become friends. After an hour of reading, he said an unexpected word: Lahsiv. He read my name by seeing the stain on the floor made by the juice of the fruits I used to write my name. I was delighted but also astounded by his intellect; he nearly learned a language in less than four hours.

Then he abruptly closed his eyes and his facial expression changed somewhat. He appeared to be focused on something important.

I was interested in what he was thinking.

Then he opened his eyes and took a long inhale as if he had just absorbed all of the air around us into him, and he began to read the book without my support.

I have no intention of disturbing him, because "who in their right mind would disturb a beast the size of a horse wagon?" I am not one of them. I closed my eyes and began to reflect on all that had occurred today...

(Without noticing, Lahsiv fell asleep, and the beast began reading the entire book that Lahsiv had handed him.)
