Merlin didn't know what exactly Soot was implying by the lying thing. Leonard must have told a lot of lies to Soot and the demand for specificity was concerning.

"I know he lied about your friend, your friend isn't lost. You need the board for something else." Merlin didn't know what to say or how to carry this conversation. "I don't know and can't even try to explain this but I can assure you we are not dangerous." Merlin attempted to convince.

"I am not afraid of you. I am afraid for you."

"You don't have to do that. We know what we are doing." Merlin internally wished for Leonard to return fast but that was not in his control anymore. He closed his eyes and rested his head back on the rocky rest, but Soot was not done.
