11 - Life On Campus (University) |

Days later, I started schooling in college. I had my matric number already, and my head of department was a friend to dad.

It was like a dream come true. I never believed that I would still be able to attend collage, despite the challenges I went through. I was in science department, studying engineering. Made friends who had great ambition in life. And they in return loved and adored me because I was very open and friendly, but still hid some essential secrets anyway.

Faith, was my friend and seat partner in class. Tall, slender and very intelligent. Talks a lot and keeps me going. Her dad was the former minister of health, and this made the family stinkingly rich.

We both lived outside campus and do things together as close friends. With time, people saw us sisters. We went shopping together, did movie nights, had sleep overs in our apartments, etc and a whole lot of things together.

"Hey, what are you doing when you 're suppose to be working on your assignment?" I asked, and sat close to her to see what she was doing on her phone.

"I have missed you so much love..." I read her chat.

"Shew! Don't read my chat!" She said in a girlish manner

"Awwn... Your boyfriend? Why didn't you tell me?" I said and tickled her. She chuckled.

"Hey... It's not like that. We just want to keep it low."

"Yeah. But how long now?"

"Well... Five months now. We met online just before I gained admission. And coincidentally, I gained admission into his school here, where he is a three hundred level student already."

"Wow! So when am I gonna meet him?"

"Of course you will. But I don't know when. You know he's a law student, always killing himself with reading." We both laughed to that.

"OK oo... If you say so. So can you now get back to your assignment? You should know that Mr Gbanjo is a no nonsense man."

I said and stood up to continue what I was doing. I was at her apartment, which was tastefully furnished with expensive deco. Thanks to being a daughter of the an ex minister, and the last born.

"Don't worry girl. I will certainly do that, but let me end this sweet conversion."

"KK".

Dad being a sweet and loving dad, made sure he gave me the best. Most times, he gave me money that was more than enough to take care of myself. While mum, never cared about my well being since I left Abuja. Well I wasn't bothered, hoping so much that what ever was going on with mum, she would come out of it.

After lectures today, Faith and I walked out of class and talked.

" Did you enjoy Mrs Adeyemi's lectures? " I asked.

"Yeah but... not really a fan of her. She's too strict and old." I laughed at the way she squeezed her face, while trying to describe her.

"Well what do you expect? This is University not secondary. Lectures here got no time for jokes or unseriousness..." I was still talking, when Faith excitedly jumped on a guy. Tall, chocolate and had broad shoulders.

I guessed him to be the boyfriend she has been speaking off.

"How are you my love?" George said and kissed her. He then gently dropped her to her feet.

"I'm good hon. Missed you..."

"Missed you more..." She wrapped her hands on his neck. I cleared my throat, not out of jealousy. Just to remind them that they weren't alone.

"Oh dear! Meet my bestie, Florence. Florence meet my boyfriend, George." We shook hands.

"Nice meeting the guy who causes my friend, smile all the time." We laughed.

"Nice meeting you too."

"Love, I have decided to dedicate today for you and you alone. May I take you out for lunch?"

"That will be great sweet. Thank you." She said and locked him in an embrace.

"Um... I should be on my way now." I said.

"Alright babe. Catch ya later." She said.

"KK. Bye." I said and scooted.

Three months later, On a Tuesday. Got a text from dad; 'Your mum delivered a bouncing baby boy!' It stated that it was through cesarean operation. Even at that, I was still great full that mother and baby were alive.

I tried calling mum to congratulate her, but she wasn't responding. I decided not to bother her anymore.

"Don't worry dear, she will come around". Dad said to me on phone.

" But dad, you told me the same thing when mum was pregnant. I... I don't know why the sudden change dad." My voice cut, as I tried to fight back tears.

"Is okay dear. All will be well. How's studies?..."
