CH 15 ~ The Contract

At midnight, Alex returned home with a frustrated mood as 'Prince' didn't showed up.

He was sure that Prince would show up to get Chris as they have known that Chris is there.

'Why didn't he showed up?!'

Alex thought as he entered theor bedroom and found Rennie sleeping on her stomach, with her laptop infront of her.

'This girl- just how old is she to sleep like that?'

He sighed as he turned off her laptop without looking at the screen and put it on the table, before he looked at Rennie again.

'I thought she wouldn't come back home today...'

Alex thought in his mind before he carried Rennie to put her in the middle of the bed to sleep properly and then went to the bathroom to change.

He laid down beside her in the bed and pulled her into his embrace to sleep.

The anger he felt over the 'Prince' seemed to calm down a little as he hugged her tightly.

'I could have dinner with her if it wasn't for that damn prince... He dared to stand me up!'

Where the main culprit, who was not aware of this slept peacefully in his embrace till morning.

"Sign it."

A paper was put before Alex in the dining table during breakfast by Rennie again.

Alex paused a little to see the title of the papers before he started to eat again like he saw nothing.

"I won't."

"..."

Rennie got frustrated as the longer their divorce is delayed, the more time she have to stay here.

According to her plan, she will save Justin tonight and then leave Linden City along with them after she completes the divorce procedure this morning.

She pulled a chair opposite of Alex and sit down to talk calmly.

"You said the contract you sign with my dad was for a year, right?!"

Rennie asked but Alex ignored her question.

"See, One year is up... You didn't liked me and this marriage because it was force on you; so am finally giving you the freedom you wanted!"

"Why are you being like this then, Alexander?!"

Rennie asked as she couldn't understand Alex's behaviour.

Even if they had dated before their marriage, he never once said that he liked her.

Then he hated her for forcing him into this sudden unwanted marriage.

Now that she is willing to give up, what's the point of this show.

'I don't want to love you anymore, Alex... Neither i can, why is he being so stubborn?'

"...No- our contract was supposed to end in a year if we gave your father an heir."

"..."

"WHAT?!!!"

Rennie was so surprised that she jumped up from the chair and looked at him with disbelief eye.

"SHOW ME THAT DAMN CONTRACT!!!"

"Follow me,"

Alex spoke as he got up from his seat with a dark face and headed towards his study room.

Rennie followed him from behind, hoping that what he said was a lie.

.

.

.

In his study room, Alex took out the contract papers from his locker and handed to Rennie with hesitation.

Rennie snatched the papers from him and read the clauses in disbelief.

In the contract, it was stated that right after he marries Rennie; Her father will give up on the project and also invest in the project.

As it was a government project, Losing this project would cost the Crawford Corporation suffer a heavy lose of billion dollars.

If they give birth to an heir within a year, Alex could get a direct divorce and the child's custody will belong to Rennie.

If they fails to do that within a year, then the contract will extend to another year.

Until Rennie gives birth.

'Damn you, Dad!'

'Just for how long did you planned all this?!'

'You knew that i can't leave Linden City if i get pregnant or have to rise a newborn baby alone, this is why you schemed this!!'

But then a bitter smile appeared on Rennie's face as she reached the conclusion that, Alex only slept with her to get her pregnant.

So that he can escape this unwanted marriage.

Where, Alex stood still and felt guilty.

He knew what Rennie was thinking about.

"Rennie, I can explain-"

"No need... But have you never wondered about what will happen to the baby, whose custody you gave up so easily?"

"Have you never thought about how that child will live without her father or how i, a single mother would raise the child?"

Rennie spoke bitterly as she tried to control her emotions and put the contract on his table.

She couldn't bear to look at him, thus she kept looking down instead.

"Have never thought how i would feel... As you knew that i liked you. Didn't you?"

Alex felt a sharp heartache as he listened to her words.

Indeed he knew that she liked him.

How could he not know when her light brown eyes would be full of love, everytime she saw him?

Embraced him?

And his eager and desire to embrace her back made him more colder towards her.

Alex let out a heavy breath before he started to speak in a low voice.

"To tell you the truth, The divorce and...the child never felt real to me.

I admit i filed for the divorce right after our marriage because of anger.

I hated how i was forced and helpless infront of your dad.

I hated how weak i was, that i had to sell my marriage to protect the Corporation as my dad was not in a good health at that time.

I hated you because even after all this, i couldn't help but get attract to you..."

Alex took another deep breathe as he started to speak again, without waiting for Rennie to say something.

"I know i was wrong to think like that about you, i should have asked you about this before treating you like that.

Even if you knew it, i shouldn't have behaved cold towards you as we were married no matter what."

Alex took a few steps towards as he hold Rennie's shoulders to make her look at him.

To let her see that he was really telling the truth.

"Believe me, Ren; After our marriage, after spending a few days with you in this villa, i never once thought about separation by using a child.

I wanted to be with you normally, not by force.

This made me act cold towards you but i couldn't suppress my desire to be with you. I wanted to be with you, embrace you, no matter how many times i tried to deny this feeling…

I worked hard day and night, so that I wouldn't have to be helpless like that infront of your dad again…

I wanted to be with you equally, not because of my helplessness to protect my company; Ren…"
