Keenan and Ryan avoided eye contact when Ryan sat in the hall with us. No one could tell what was going on in their minds but it was good there was no argument.
"Ryan can we talk?", Keenan asked Ryan after it seemed like he was deep in thoughts for some time.
"There's nothing to talk about", Ryan replied coldly. I got up to leave them so they could have some privacy since I was thinking that was what they needed. I called Jennie and Ryder to come with me but they were stopped.
"No one is going anywhere. Sit all of you", Keenan commanded as if he was the owner of the house. Ryder and his lover boy sat immediately after Keenan's command but I wasn't the type to obey such commands so I just stood staring at him.
"Ash please sit", he finally added some respect in a good boy tone which pushed me to sit.
"I want you all to be my witness today", Keenan started. I even thought he had prepared some speech to be delivered to us so we opened our ears to listen. "I want to apologize officially for not trusting Ryan and also for picking up fights with him ", he continued. We all looked shocked at what our ears were hearing but it was the truth. Keenan wasn't the type to willingly apologize for certain things but he was doing that meaning it wasn't easy for him to draw that conclusion. Ryan remained silent also shocked at what just came from his best friend but he didn't want to be seen through so he covered it up with 'am I don't care' straight face.
"Ryan….I'm sorry", he struggled to say those words. The room became deadly silent after Keenan's last words because everyone was waiting for the chairman of the organization to speak.
"You are not to blame for what happened. I would have reacted the same way if I were in your position at that time. Let just forget it", the voice we were all waiting to hear finally spoke surprising us because we didn't know he would talk so calmly to Keenan. He was actually saying they should forget what happened between them. "And I'm also sorry for everything I did to you during our unfriendly era , hope you forgive me", he added an apology because he was also at fault.
"No worries about that", Keenan replied.
There was delightful smile plastered on Keenan's face after Ryan's words making Ryan smile back at him. We were happy they finally decided to reconcile and now it was time for us to bring up a new topic but first things first.
"As witnesses ,for us to be sure you have forgiven each other, we want a sign", I burst out.
"Yes that's right, what if they are trying to deceive us?", Jennie supported me.
"Then there's only one thing to prove that, our code", Ryder butted in. I got confused when he said that but maybe they were the only ones who understood it.
"What's that?", Jennie asked curiously helping me out because I was curious too.
"Oh that's a friend code , it's more like a vow", Ryder explained in simple terms gaining nods from Jennie and I.
"Okay then, let's get it started. Who will go first?", I asked after understanding what it was. I didn't get any answer from them meaning they were forcing me to make a decision for them.
"Keenan. You should go first", I said pointing at him earning a glare from him but I just shrugged.
"We will always be together no matter the situation. We will fight to the end taking our last breathe while holding hands. We are brothers bond by this vow ", Keenan recited.
'They really had a vow like this and yet they broke it? These guys are really unbelievable', I thought.
"Is that it Ryder? Did he omit something from it?", I questioned Ryder since he was the only one who could tell it.
"I'm even surprised he still remembers it. He has said it all", Ryder compliments.
"Good then. Ryan ?", I called him to say his.
He repeated the same thing Keenan said earlier and added," I'd break your neck if you dare not trust me again".
"Ryder. Is that part of it?",Jennie asked Ryder.
"I guess he wants to edit it himself ", Ryder responded making us laugh. We were happy at long last. I finally felt my heart was at peace because I wouldn't be hearing any quarrels or fights between Keenan and Ryan.
Ryan got us wine from the wine cellar to celebrate the new reconciliation.
"Don't you guys think something is missing?", I asked getting everyone's attention on me.
