Chapter 68

We got to school very early this time in order to get ready for the day's activity. Others students were also in school but not the rest of our new circle of friends. We walked to class holding our hands when we met Reuben leaning on the door to the classroom. It shocked me his car wasn't at the parking lot and he didn't come with Ryder and Ryan but I convinced myself that it wasn't any big deal.

"Good morning ", I managed to greet gaining a smile from him.

"What do I owe this pleasant greeting?", he questioned getting me confused.

'Was he trying to say we are still not friends. Or is he trying to…'

"Is just curtesy to greet right? Or do we need reason to greet a fellow student?", Jennie cut off my thoughts.

"Not at all, I was just kidding. Don't take it too personal ", he said with a smirk. For some kind of an unknown reason, his smirk was scary to my eyes.

"How are you guys doing? How was your night? Did you sleep well?", he started asking questions as if we were old friends.

"Can you ask a question at a time? How do you expect us to answer your questions like that?", Jennie was kind of losing her patience.

"No need to answer anyways because I can see you are very fine. Have a nice day and good luck in your test, especially you", he said to us but directed the last part to Jennie. He place his head on his desk when he left the door to his seat, he was acting very strange to me but I couldn't figure it out why he was like that.

In no time the rest of our new circle members came in one after the other with a mischievous smile plastered on their faces for only heavens knew what that that was about.

"Hey, you guys are already here?", Ryder was first to speak. I wonder how a very lovely looking and caring guy decided to join hands with the devil to bully others. Now that I got to know him better, I realized he wasn't the type who bullied others for fun.

"Yeah, we got here like five minutes ago", I answered causing him to nod.

"What's with those smiles?", Jennie asked from her side. Thank God he asked because I was also curious about it.

"Nothing really, we just had a little race getting here", Keenan answered this time.

"You guys can be so childish ", I said and we all broke out laughing.

"Hey Reuben ", Ryan called him suddenly.

"Yeah. What's up?", he responded casually.

"You good?"

"Perfectly fine", he replied with a wink.

"That's great", Ryan said walking to his seat to sit.

"I don't know why I feel I am over ready for the test", I suddenly said getting everyone's attention. "I mean…"

"We know ", they all said in unison making me laugh. It seemed they had really gotten to know my next line of words after the first.

"That's enough, you guys get ready for the test", Keenan spoke killing them mood.

"Says the president ", Ryan said and the place became quiet with everyone concentrating on their personal stuffs.

"Urhm Keenan, don't you think we need to change our seating arrangements ?", I said out of the blue. I didn't like how we were separated because it doesn't make the conversation nice and also, other students get to hear whatever we say.

"Why?", was the only question he asked and I was already expecting that.

"So that we can be close and the others won't hear our silly conversations", I said trying to make some sense.

"I think you do have a point. Let's do that after test week", he agreed faster than I thought.

"Hayyyy", I rejoiced hugging him. I didn't know what had gotten into me this time but I think I liked the feeling of being able to be my old self.

"You…you…are..you are in my arms Ash", he stuttered before speaking up.

"I know. You don't feel comfortable?", I rather asked a silly question.

"Are you okay?", he questioned back making me loose my arms around him.

"Perfectly fine dear", I told him making him nod with a smile.

"Wait a minute…", I said trying to touch his chest. Just a while ago when I hugged him, I felt something familiar. His broad chest and that same scent. It was driving me crazy and I had to figure that out.

"What are you doing?", he asked pushing my hand away.

"Have we met before? I always feel like we have met before", I finally asked him since I couldn't figure it out myself. He remained quiet for sometime after I had asked the question before clearing his throat to speak.

"I don't think so", he said and walked out of the class without looking back.
