Chapter 128: The incident (1):

Camilla POV:

What just happened? Why did she do that? I swear I saw her near the balcony. Why would the balcony of the royal palace be easy to crumble? I checked the balcony before the banquet. I made sure that no one would be hurt even if it was for the plot. But why is this side of the balcony now crushed? Somehow I can feel some sort of magic energy lingering in the air. I'm not sure if it's magic and no one can help me confirm it. Edgar is still at the border and my brothers said they didn't feel anything. But my institutions are usually not wrong.

Through this incident, I don't think Eveline is as innocent as she acts. There is some sort of secret surrounding her. Looks like I won't become best friends with her but I won't go making her way a misery.

But to actually understand what happened we need to go back in time, just about two days ago.

*

Two days ago, right after Eveline parted her ways from Miss Lily-anne she began searching for Baroness Stylevanna according to Scarlett's orders.

"Scarlett, who exactly am I searching for again?" I asked whilst walking up and down halls and corridors to God knows where. "Baroness Juilet Stylevanna," she replied. "And what does she look like?" I asked. "You will know what she looks like. The only drunk woman at every ball," Scarlett replied sarcastically. "So she's an alcoholic. You chose an alcoholic to be my adopted mother. What a lovely start I have," I muttered. "She's not an alcoholic. She's just not in the right mind. She recently just lost her daughter to measles. And she keeps on having arguments with her husband on whose fault it is. Stuff like that made her turn to wine. I think you can sympathise with her no? Your dad was an alcoholic, but relax she won't hit you," Scarlett retorted.

'Your dad was an alcoholic' that phrase kept repeating in my head as memories began to surface. Memories of a little girl using her arms to protect her head when a middle-aged man kept on hitting her. Also memories of her mother holding the girl in her arms with her back against the man hitting them. Without knowing it, I had stopped in the hallway, my hand grasping my chest. Scarlett drifted back to my shoulder when she saw I had stopped. "Eveline, Eveline are you ok?" she shouted. Her voice brought me back. "Yeah, I'm fine" I replied quietly.

"I'm sorry I didn't realise he still brought some sort of fear towards you," announced Scarlett. "No, it's fine. But how do you know about him?" I asked. "I've told you before. You are me and I am you. I know everything about you. Like how you can see my memories I can see yours as well," she replied. "Then you must also know what happened after right?" I asked as she nodded. "I never thought you would have it in you. But relax with me here it won't be able to happen. And the Baroness isn't like that," answered Scarlett.

"But didn't you say she just lost a daughter? Why would she adopt me right after?" I questioned. "Because you look just like her daughter," answered Scarlett "Well young Eveline does, but grown Eveline won't," "So in a sense, I'm just a substitute for her daughter?" I asked as Scarlett nodded. "Wow, who exactly made this storyline?" I mumbled, "I don't think she's out here. I'm going back to the hall," I announced. Scatlett sat back on my shoulder as we walked back to the hall.

I entered the banquet hall silently, I noticed Miss Lily-Anne was still talking to Princess Camilla. They are probably gonna end up being best of friends. I scanned the room looking for a drunk woman but I still couldn't find her. "What does she look like?" I asked Scarlett. "She's ginger with green eyes. She should be wearing a yellow dress and gold mask today," Scarlett explained. "Are you kidding me? She's ginger and I'm a brunette which part of me looks like her daughter?" I exclaimed. "The late Miss Avery Kylie Stylevanna looked like her father who is a brunette," replied Scarlett.

"I found her," I announced to Scarlett staring in the direction of Baroness Stylevanna.
