Chapter 44: A Strange Wind

As the afternoon sun dips in the sky, Crash rides home. He leaves his friends in good spirits. 'What a year!' he reflects. 'It's been like…a pendulum. Some days have been high…but others feel as though…they could snap.' While thinking of the mechanics of a pendulum's swing, Crash observes that his life seems as chaotic—when the ball rises, it's surprising to not see it drop to the floor.

Regardless, the teen pedals through the quiet town. Crash embraces the moment while breathing in the spring air. The sound of children laughing brings him warmth. The teen is ready to figure out a way to keep that happiness alive. 'Just wait…soon you won't be able to make them miserable.' Crash grips the handlebars tighter while thinking of Pandora's wicked grin.

"It's great," he says out-loud with a smile. "To not feel…afraid."
