Sitting in Cletus’s office, Keyon stopped listening to his mentor ten minutes ago. He glanced at his watch. It was five in the evening, and his mind was back on Huck. They hadn’t talked in two days. The last time he’d spoken to Huck, he’d told the singer about his childhood. After that, Keyon felt more exposed than he’d ever felt in his life.
Pulling out his phone, he stared at the screen. Yeah, no. Nothing. That itch to see Huck needed to be scratched.
To combat how disturbed he was after he’d over-shared, Keyon had texted his singer a brief sentence about having a good day. Then he hadn’t talked to Huck again. Thursday night, he'd abstained from looking at Huck on his computer. He forced himself to not call or text or watch the man to prove that Huck didn’t have a hold on him.
It was the longest night of his life.
