Will You Feed Me?

"But I mind." Damon said which made Ashley pause.

He got up from his chair and stood in front of her. She was getting worked up again, perhaps he should mind this time. She looked at him questioningly, obviously wondering what he meant.

"I'm sorry, what?" She asked him.

"I asked you to have dinner with me and we're not done yet so you can't go." He told her with a serious face.

"I'm full." She lied and tried to get passed him but he blocked her way.

Ashley looked up at him with raised brows.

"But I'm not full. So you'll stay till I eat and I'm full."

Ashley kept glaring at him and he felt her getting angry.

"Go on, sit down." He said using his head to make a gesture. Then she took in a deep breath before she sat down.

Damon smirked and sat down on his own chair. He watched her for a while, she was glaring at the wall in front of her now. She didn't understand everything yet and he really wanted to explain but since he couldn't, yet, she probably thought he was lying or something.

Good question she asked about her work. About that, he couldn't just tell her to quit, that was not right to do at least for now. Hopefully, it won't get to the point where she would have to quit work. But that was why he put Zuka in charge of being with her there.

At the restaurant, they were just in one place throughout but going out and being in the midst of many other people could be risky even with still watching her. Maybe he should just explain to her now as a preventive measure. So that she understands better and doesn't one-day, go behind his back and sneak out then something goes wrong.

"Are you going to just watch me or finish your food. I want to sleep." Ashley spoke.

Damon looked at his plate, then back at her. "You want to understand why I don't just want you to go out?" He asked and she looked at him, her eyes were filled with expectation.

Now he was going to start some explanation. Talking too much, he didn't want to do yet, but he was going to.

"Even though there are a lot of different people who come to your workplace, you're still indoors throughout and since I'm sort of watching you it'll be easier to sense any of these demons if they're there with you and if anything silly ever tries to happen, it'll be easier to deal with." Damon explained.

"But being outdoors, and with Natalie is not as safe. They could come to you disguised as your even friend or anyone else for that matter and go with you before I am even able to do anything and then coming for you won't be as easy as you might think. Just spying on you won't help when they come as Natalie or anyone and take you away before we can even act."

If she was ever going to go out like that, somebody like him or Zuka had to be with her to prevent something like that from happening, not to stay and just spy from afar.

"This is not something to be taken so lightly so it would be a lot more helpful for me if you just do as I say, to prevent trouble for either of us. Do you understand me now?" Damon asked but she looked thoughtful.

"I thought you said they were not here yet. Why does it have to be like this then?" Ashley asked.

"I said that the main people after me are not here yet. And it has to be like this because they could be here anytime, you don't know. And besides their minions were here or are still here, one was at your house some nights ago." Damon replied getting frustrated.

They hadn't caused trouble yet since that night and Damon knew that they also knew what they were doing.

"I'm sorry." Ashley suddenly said. "I'm sorry I didn't understand all these and kept disturbing you foolishly. I'm sorry that you have to be going through all this because of me, I'm sorry you have to be taking responsibility for me. I'm really sorry that I have to be a burden." She blurted out with frustration in her voice.

What was she saying? Did she lose her mind or something?

She was the one going through all of this because of him and he was the one who asked to take responsibility for her which she clearly knew so what had gotten into her?

"The hell are you saying?" Damon asked frowning now but Ashley didn't answer and kept her head low.

"What you just said is supposed to be the other way around and you know that." He told her. "You already asked me once and I told you I'm doing this, taking responsibility because you are going through all of this because of me. So what's with the nonsense talk?" He got angry.

Ashley looked at him. "I'm sorry." She said again.

"I don't want to hear the word anymore." He told her with the frown even more visible on his face.

Why was she being so sober? Where was her angry self that he wanted?

"Can demons disguise as other demons?" She asked him after a while of being quiet.

"No."

She nodded and looked away. He had given her some explanation she needed once again and there was still more. Perhaps he should let her go already.

"I'm full already, you should go to sleep now." Damon said and she looked at him somewhat surprised.

"But you didn't even eat from the food again." She said.

Damon wondered why she was concerned when she was the one that had wanted to leave.

"Then will you feed me?" He smirked and he saw her roll her eyes.

"Goodnight." She said and stood up, grabbing her bag along before almost storming out of the dining room.

Damon couldn't help but smile at her behavior. She was really something. She made him remember Irene. Now thinking of it, they had similar character. Would that explain why he admired her?

Damon stood up and left the dining room also. He went to his balcony and sat down to have wine. He had been doing this for so many years that he had become so used to it.

There was almost no night that he didn't drink wine there. Sometimes Sephirah would join him other times he would be there alone which he loved so much.

He loved to be alone, but it seemed that was slowly changing now.
