She took out her phone and messaged her client to cancel, freeing her schedule for the day. Not that she planned to stay with him at the moment she was just enjoying he ride, and she was intrigued as to why he wanted her to accompany him.
They drove for a while before stopping outside of a stylish house within the same gated community as she had visited when she saw Raven. Yes, she was correct, he was one of Angelo's men.
She opened the car door and got out taking in the house and gardens in front of her. It was grand and stylish if not a little conventional.
She felt his presence standing beside her, he placed his wide hand on her lower back and pulled her with him into his home. She allowed him for now to do as he pleased.
He closed the front door behind them, and she stood unsure of what to do, she clasped her hands together and glanced around.
His home seemed like a show home, it lacked warmth. White walls and dark brown furniture surrounded her.
He set her backpack down at the bottom of his stairs, before inclining his head, "This way." He said gruffly.
She nodded and followed. Although he was quiet and imposing, she felt comfortable and safe in his presence.
Woof Woof
She turned her head in the direction of the barking, and a large black dog appeared and pounced on her licking her face, the dog's paws draped over her shoulders. She giggled and pushed him down.
The dog sat obediently in front of her with its tongue hanging out adorably. She pet his head before checking his collar for his name.
"Nice to meet you Loki." Seeing tall, dark and stoic was in the kitchen she then walked to the kitchen island and took a seat opposite him.
He was watching her.
"You still haven't told me your name or why I am here. It would make me more inclined to stay if you told me." It was a lie and she hoped he wouldn't notice. His arms where folded and she could tell he was at war with something though she wasn't sure what that was.
"Killian." He answered smoothly.
"Killian." She tested his name on her lips and smiled. "I would say it is lovely to meet you but as I don't know why I'm here I will hold off on that statement." She teased.
A conversation with this man was like extracting teeth, both slow and agonizing for her. But he was interesting, and she hadn't had any fun in a while. She wanted to know why she was in his house.
She was used to men like him, they would be stoic during tattoo appointments and the longer they spent in her presence the more at ease they felt to converse. They ended up chattier than Raven.
Buzz Buzz
Just then her phone vibrated in her pocket, and she glanced up at Killian, he nodded, and she answered the phone.
On the phone it just so happened to be one of Angelo's guards. His appointment was today, and she had promised an appointment slot as soon as possible and then had to cancel due to Killian's arrival.
"Yeah, sorry about today…. I will check my schedule and fit you in as soon as I can… I haven't forgotten… I'll make it up to you…" Her words cut off along with the phone call. She glanced up at Killian bemused.
Killian had taken her phone and ended the call, setting her phone back onto the marble kitchen island.
Confused she reached for her phone and inquired, "Why did you do that?"
"It was annoying." He responded smoothly. His voice was soft and deep she wanted to hear it again.
"What was?" she replied trying to keep the conversation going. She didn't really mind that he had terminated the conversation, as she could just message the client with a new appointment as she had already stated in her message earlier.
He turned his back to her and opened the fridge door, she huffed out a breath of frustration.
"He was a client, it's your fault I owe him as I cancelled his appointment for today. I have never cancelled anyone before, not even when I am sick." She added.
"Is there anything you can't eat?" His eyes fell on her waiting for her response halting her ramblings as his change of subject confused her momentarily.
"Can't eat…No I will eat anything." She responded truthfully. She loved her food, but she was hopeless in the kitchen.
"Good." He replied. His lip quirked into what she thought may have been the start of a smile. It stunned her momentarily.
"Wait, why?" She countered, was he going to cook for her she speculated. If this man could cook on top of having a decent car, luxury house and a handsome face she might forgive him for kidnapping her for the day.
Silence filled the air as he took out some ingredients from the fridge and started to cook on the grill.
After a few minutes the smell of home cooking filled the air, and she was drawn towards the stove.
Loki sat by her side, and she petted his head as she watched Killian cooking.
Fifteen minutes later he set some cutlery and a plate in front of her.
She beamed at him, "Is this for me?" She was so excited. He nodded and she thanked him. He had cooked her a feast of pancakes, bacon and sausage.
She licked her lips and took a forkful, doing a happy dance in her seat. She saw another ghost of a smile on his lips as he watched her eat.
"Can I have some syrup please?" She asked.
He left her and returned with a bottle of syrup; she was generous as she poured on the syrup on the pancakes.
"You should ease up on the syrup." He noted.
She glanced up at him after another forkful she added, "I don't eat like this often so it should be okay."
"Do you not cook for yourself?" He asked. His alluring green eyes pulling her in, they had a touch of what she thought was concern. But why would he care she thought.
She studied him, he was talking, just not about what she wanted. At least this was a start so she smiled, "No I'm hopeless I can burn water and cremate toast." She laughed remembering her past incidents of cooking.
He was about to ask her another question when his phone rang. He stood and answered, his eyes on her as she ate.
He walked out of the kitchen to take the call and returned a moment later, "I have to go, it's not safe to leave here for now, so stay here… please." The please sounded strained.
She thought for a moment, if her safety was in question because of the men that hurt Raven years ago then she could handle herself.
He watched her intensely, so she nodded and continued to eat her breakfast. A large, warm hand fell on her head as he played with her hair.
Once she heard the front door closing and the roar of an engine leaving, she ate one more mouthful before hoping off her stool.
"Bye Loki, I hate to eat and run but I have things to do." She petted Loki's head and carried her plate emptying what was left into the bin and putting the plate into the sink.
