Fangs and claws

Liam looks up. 'K-Keylee? But, but you were dead, right? How many people are gonna come back to life? And Stiles? What are you doing here?'

I look at Void as question what to do but he simply opens the car and waits for Liam and me to get in. Liam seems to hesitate so Void simply pushes him in. I quickly follow.

'What!? What are you guys doing?'

'Helping you.' Void answers calmly. 'You wanna make it up with Scott correct?'

'Uhm, yeah.'

'Then you go to him and tell him that I said hi. Tell him the game is mine but that I'll give him a small advantage. Listen very closely Liam. Theo needs a way to power, so he must find the most powerful alpha he has ever heard of besides Scott. Tell him he needs someone who could win with closed eyes.'

Liam looks extremely confused. So am I. What is he talking about? Yet Liam nods.

'Who? And why don't you say it?'

'He'll know. And I won't come with you because Scott and I... we are currently not in a friendly position.'

Liam is silent for a while before he looks at me. 'Are you coming?'

I shake my head. 'No Liam. Scott and I are not really on speaking terms right now.'

'Oh. I- I'll tell him. But I don't know what it means. And I don't understand how it will make him forgive me.'

Void sighs. 'Start with sorry. Now, here's the school. Step out, you can find your own way from here on.'

Liam quickly gets out and before he can say anything else Void drives away. 'Who does Theo need?' I ask suspiciously. Void tilts his head and looks at me.

'Eyes on the road.' I order. 'I don't have a death wish.'

'Relax, I won't let anything happen to you. But I gave Liam a pretty clear clue I'm sure you can figure out too.'

'Don't play riddles on me. Just tell me.'

'You already know.'

I do. I just don't want to. And I'm not gonna admit it so I just keep my mouth shut. I stubbornly stare out of the window and refuse to believe him.

Void sighs. 'Kitten, it's fine. I'll protect you, you'll learn to protect yourself. He won't hurt you. Not again.'

I swallow. 'Still. Theo is gonna ask help from the guy that put all of this on me.'

Void nods. 'Theo wants power. Deucalion can give it to him.'

I sigh and look back at the road. It's still dark and it's even darker now Void turned of the car's light. Yet I can see things just fine.

Void stops the car close to the forest and we get out. I shiver. 'Why are we here?'

'Because it's dark and there's no one around.'

I look up at him. 'You know this sounds kinda creepy yes?'

'Oh, I'm aware. Rule number one, always be on guard.'

Out of nowhere he pulls a knife and throws it at me. In a reflex I feel my eyes turn and my hands clap forward to catch the knife.

'You died once, you will try everything to stay alive this time since you perfectly remember it now. You are way stronger than you think, and with every day you get even stronger now.'

I still try to process the fact that he just threw a knife at me. He threw a freaking knife at me! But I caught it, I caught a knife with my bare hands. BECAUSE HE THREW IT AT ME!!!

'Why the hell did you do that!?' I exclaim angrily.

Void suddenly appears behind me. 'Because you need to know your spirit will protect you from now on.'

'I don't understand, I died before right?'

'Yes, but you were reincarnated, you didn't remember anything. Now you do. You died Keylee, and you came back as Keylee. Not as someone else.'

I don't really think I fully understand it but I don't think I ever will with this supernatural stuff. so I just nod. The hairs in my neck stand up when Void moves his face closer to my ear. 'Kitten. I'm gonna teach you another lesson alright?' He whispers softly.

I nod. I don't trust my voice. Why is he so freaking close? And why do I feel like this? I look straight forward as I feel Void turn his head to look at me. I can feel his nose brush against my ear and I close my eyes on instinct. I don't like this, at least that's what I tell myself. Yet I also don't push him away. Is he testing me or something?

'You always, always, need to focus.'

Little problem right now. I can't focus. Not when he's so close for no reason at all! Or well, there is probably a reason but I don't know it.

I automatically let out a shrill shriek as he spins me around and pushes me against a tree with the knife on my throat I was holding in my hands a few seconds ago.

'What are you gonna do now Kitten? You didn't focus, now you could die.'

I just stare at him. Would he really kill me again? I don't think he would but I didn't think he would kill me the first time either.

'Dead. You took to long to do anything at all. You froze. You have to fight back Keylee. You have to!'

He looks annoyed. Is it really that big deal?'

'You seem to forget that you are far better than me Void! I'm not like you, I just learned how to do thinks with my powers. Heck, a year ago I didn't even know about all the supernatural stuff! You can't expect me to be good at this immediately!'

'But I want you to! Do you think a werewolf will go easy on you because you are still learning how to fight? Do you think a hunter will give you a 10 minute start to run away because you are still learning about your powers? I tell you this, no one will!'

I gasp and stare at him with open mouth. His words hurt. I can't deny that. It hurts even more to know he has a point. I can't defend myself but that won't matter to anyone who will try to kill me.

Void moves a hand through his hair and pushes himself of the tree and away from me. Then he tosses me the knife again. 'Keep this with you, it's silver.' He mumbles.

I feel bad now for not being able to fight properly. How the hell did he manage to make me feel guilty for not being able to fight?

Void turns around to face me and stands at about 1 meter away from me. 'Punch me.'

'What? Why does everyone wants me to punch them?'

Void raises his eyebrows.

'Theo.' I explain him. I think back about when I punched Theo. I still feel a little guilty. I mean, it's for a very big part his fault but I'm still the one who punched him.

'You won't hurt me. Besides, you tried to punch me before remember? Actually, you did. In the woods.'

Oh yeah... that's right. When I didn't really know who he was yet I kicked him, multiple times... hehe... oops. Well, kinda his fault, he tried to kidnap me back then, he could have seen it coming.

'My point is that it didn't have any effect back then so you can punch me now.'

I frown. 'What's the point if it doesn't work?'

'You'll learn how to throw a punch. Now, punch me.'

I sigh and do as he says. I ball my fist and punch him. It ends up in my hand hurting terribly and Void looking like nothing happened. I hiss and take my injured fist in my hand.

'Jeez, what is your chest made of?'

'Well, currently I'm possessing a human body so... flesh I would say, bones, muscles. You know, things humans are made of.

I give him an annoyed glare. 'Stop teasing me and teach me how to fight properly without injuring MYSELF more than my opponent.'

He smirks. 'You gotta put your entire weight in the punch. Like, you threw your fist at me, works fine when you're mad cause then you won't feel pain but in situations like this, when you really wanna hurt someone, you need to punch me with everything you have. Punches comes from the legs.'

I've heard that before. Coach tried to explain me once. He said I needed to also find my "balance point". Then he gave me an entire lecture about how to pose my feet. Not to close, not to wide. I think he just did it to annoy me but hey, let's give it a shot.

I move my feet a bit away from each other until I have a good balance. I take my right foot back Then I slightly turn my hips away from Void. Now I feel like some boxer guy on TV. Gosh, I never though I would actually learn something useful from coach.

'Remember to strike with your first two knuckles. And don't lose balance. I don't want you falling on me.'

I raise my eyebrows. 'You know, I didn't think about it but now...'

He sighs. 'Just punch me.'

I take a breath and lung forward. I move my fist in a straight line to his face, he asked for it, and I push my body forward. I hit him, hard, right at his jaw. My knuckles hurt from it but Void also takes a step back.

He feels his jaw with his hand. 'Nice one. I think I actually felt that. Next step, use your supernatural power. You are stronger than the average human Kitten. Much stronger, use that.'

'What!? No! What if I hurt you, like, really bad? I don't wanna do that!'

Not that I know how to, I didn't even know I was stronger. It does make sense but I never noticed it.

'I'm flattered you care so much but I'm a demon. You seem to forget that. I am powerful enough, trust me.'

'What happened to never trust a fox?' I tease him.

He smirks. 'Like you ever listened to that.'

I smile too. 'Fine. I'll hit you, without holding in, but then I want you to fight back.'

'Sure?'

Nope. But I nod anyways. If I'm terrible at fighting I better learn how to handle getting beaten up.

'Fine. This might sound weird but you can do a lot by imagining things. So imagine a power inside you, fangs and claws. And just think about using it. It's a mind trick, believe in the power you have and, well, you can actually use it because it is already there.'

I nod and close my eyes. I can do this. It's like I'm filled with adrenaline. Like there's this thrill, like I need to hit him. It feels kinda the same like with Theo but this feels more playful and controlled. I feel a sharp pain through my gums. Fangs.

I open my eyes again. The world has a slight tint of green but I learned how to find comfort in that. Void takes a step back and waits for me to punch him. I look at my hands. I have claws. Yet I still decide I wanna practice punching first and I might not really wanna slash him fully open with blood and everything. I look at Void. He smirks knowingly. I can't believe I got myself in this situation.
