A great mass of death

"You'll be safe here Teli, this building his the safest in the city, I got friends who will watch over you too, there is no need to worry anymore" spoke Matina, Telikoritsi was not convinced about this, she could still feel that something was going to do wrong.

The freckled adventurer left the room, her group was not going to be staying as they had another quest to do outside of the city, leaving the village girl by herself in medium sized room, the building was mostly made out of sturdy woods but Matina had managed to convince her guard friends to let Telikoritsi sleep in one of their high-confinement cell, this cell was supposed to be able to keep a high level warrior inside without any issue, meaning that getting into it without the necessary keys would prove difficult for many.

A day passed and has the sun was rising, Telikoritsi was laying onto her bed, her eyes suddenly shot open, a sharp pain in her heart had suddenly shook her awake, she reflexively brought her hand to the painful zone, nobody could see her, the door had been closed and no sound would escape from this room.

The pain remained but something took her utmost attention, she was seeing something, a most strange scenery, she could see bushes rustling directly in her face, before being blinded by the rising sun, she saw a large and greyish hand before her, it seemed as though it was her own, long, dark claws extended from the fingers, suddenly, everything started moving at high speeds, the bushes were pushed out of the way with great force, the sun was soon covered as something covered it, she saw the stone walls of a city, the city she had entered just yesterday, she saw the walls get closer at an even faster speed as her vision rose in the air, she was going to crash into a guard on the wall.

Suddenly her sight came back to normal and the pain in her chest settled, she was sweating bullets and felt nauseous, she saw everything blurry and her body felt heavy, she had realised what was happening but the aftermath of her vision knocked her out, she fell back on her bed unconscious.

As her head dug into the pillow of her bed, a guard felt a sudden grip on his face, he had seen nothing coming and was dragged into the air alongside his unseen assailant, used as a tool to soften the fall of a monster, a line blood and gore was drawn on the ground, at the end of it stood a tall monster, it was incredibly thin, looking like it was starved, its skin pale and grey.

The roads were filled with people, almost everyone worked as soon as the sun rose, after all, they all froze at the sight of the creature, standing straight up, looming over every one of them, the world seemed frozen for a few moments, the only sounds being that of things being dropped out of the passersby hand as there muscle had given out due to the woe they had suddenly found themselves in.

The creature, noticing the silence that had befallen upon the area after its arrival understood where these beings stood on the chain and its head opened up with a mouth filled with dreadful teeth as it gave out an intimidating howl, causing all of the people frozen to start running and screaming in fear, just has expected, there was only one predator here.

The captain of the guards had never seen this, monsters barely approached humans settlement and even less attacks them and if they did, they would do so in groups but this monster had jumped over the walls without any issue, the magic barrier supposed to stop monsters hadn't even fazed it and it was now cleaving through anything within range of its claws, the streets had quickly turned red, flooded with the blood of all that had ended up before the monsters, body parts riddled the ground, much more parts than the actual number of victims, guts had flown onto buildings and the stench of death had immediatly permeated the air.

The monster made no sounds as it slaughtered them all, it had no smile, it didn't laugh, didn't screech, only its howl at the start had came out of it.

The captain, accompanied by as many guards as he could gather in the urgency surrounded the beast on both side on the roads, it repeatedly slammed the limp body of an old woman onto the ground before seemingly noticing their arrival, its grey body was covered in blood, giving it the look of a devil that had stepped out of hell.

"SHOOT!" commanded the captain and two flurry of arrows rained onto the monster, the beast didn't bother dodging as the arrows weren't able to dig deep enough to even stick to its body.

The monster's face was blank but the captain could feel that its head was turned toward him specifically, mouths opened up all over the monster's head, humanoid mouths and they started speaking the voices of the people the monster had slaughtered.

The captain trembled as he heard that, he was reminded that he had failed at his duty, usually oe would come to realise such things after the tragedy would come to an end, when their minds would settle.

The captain steadied his grip on spear and focused on the situation at hand, raising his weapon up and giving his final command, in a soft yet powerful voice, the order which would seemed crazy for anyone looking at this situation was executed by each and every guard present, the conviction present in the order gave them hope in the face of despair.

"Attack" was the order and the sound of armored warriors running forward replaced the screams of fear for a little while, the creature roared in a strange way as it leaped toward the captain.

The sound of metal breaking was heard almost immediately, followed by the sound of something piercing flesh.

The captain was lifted up the air, his chest pierced all the way through by the beast and his spear stabbed through the monster's head, the scene looking like a sinister painting, the soldiers attacked the monster, it threw the still living captain away before tearing through the rest of the soldiers.

With the absence of fear and screams for help, it almost seemed as though they were winning but a few minutes later, the monster emerged victorious, its few small wounds healing immediately as it went on to continue its massacre.
