Small Talks

Jim was walking toward the parking lot when he saw Amy sitting on a bench not far away. Her head tilted high, looking at the sky.

Jim chuckled as he realized that Amy's foot was dangling; her feet couldn't reach the ground. 'How is she so cute,' Jim thought.

*Ba-dummbbb, *Ba-dumbbbbb, *Ba-dumbbbbb

Jim blushed when he caught a glimpse of her smooth, voluptuous, white legs.

'Shit, what the hell am I thinking?' Jim cursed under his breath, holding his chest.

"Did Superman pass by? What are you looking up there?" Jim teased Amy. Trying to not let Amy see his flushed face.

"Nothing. I just realized that today is such a beautiful day" Amy stood up and looked at Jim, smiling. At that moment, Jim's heart melted altogether.

Inside the car—

"So you're from Midwest in country Q?" Jim asked.

"Are you a stalker? How did you know?" Amy blurted, distancing herself from Jim.

"Yes, Amy," Jim said sarcastically, "I'm a stalker who happened to bump on this drunk girl the other night. When I asked her what's her address so I could drive her home, she told me her home address- turns out, it was her address across the globe" Jim started laughing.

Amy suddenly felt like she was evaporating, 'How embarrassing.'

"Do you miss it… being home?" Jim asked in a serious tone.

"Yes, but not really," Amy answered. "I love my family to death, but I have always had this feeling that I'd be moving around. If it weren't for the research job I got, I would have been who knows where doing medical missions."

"I read about your research; it was very informative," Jim confessed.

"You did? Are you interested in BioMedical studies?" Amy looked at Jim, who was driving.

"No, not really. Someone I know is. She dragged me into that gala. At first, I wasn't really paying attention, but when I did, something intrigued me, so I looked into it." Jim blushed. "I find you..your research exceptionally outstanding."

"Why, thank you" Amy looked pleased. "How about you? Have you always wanted to be an idol?"

"I actually didn't know what I wanted. I was young when an agent scouted me while I was strolling leisurely one day," Jim said. "At first, I was like, okay, let's try this for fun, but then I met the other members- their passion for music was intense, and I felt incredibly insecure. Their hard work and dedication cheered me up, so I decided to stay and work as hard as they did."

Jim was quiet for a second.

"Memories of our first live performance are still crystal clear to me." Jim paused and smiled, his eyes still on the road. "Our company made a make-shift stage for us, and there were probably 30 or 50 people; I don't know exactly, but at that time, I thought there were millions of them. We were all so excited. We can't believe that we are performing in such a huge crowd. But everyone in the music industry laughed at how pathetic we looked. Our company wasn't big then; it was composed of a small number of people. Our office building is a laughing stock compared to other music labels. They said we'd never make it big- and that Producer Kim was delusional for debuting us." Jim halted, getting emotional.

"But J, our leader, gathered us around before our first ever performance and said, "no one can write our story but us- now, let's show them how chapter one looks like," Jim said proudly.

"And, boy, did chapter one look absolutely phenomenal," Amy chimed in as she cheered loudly, feeling proud of Axis21's success.

Jim let out a laugh and looked at Amy. He then held her hand. They continued having small talks till they reached Amy's apartment.
