Chapter 16

At the next morning, Maddie woke up as she had to run to the bathroom to vomit. Those morning sickness were her enemies until much advanced pregnancy.

She tried to leave the bed in silence and to not bother James, but while she was in the bathroom, empty her stomach, she felt him behind her, holding her hair and soothing her.

"It's OK, Maddie. I'm here with you." After that, James helped her get up so she could rinse her mouth after vomiting.

"I'm sorry, James. Didn't mean to wake you up."

"Like I told you yesterday, I'm by your side all the way. Now, let's take a shower so we could buy stuff for our baby." Maddie smiled at him, so James lifted her and took her with him to the shower to save some water. Well, kind of.

After eating breakfast, they dressed Drew and drove to the mall in town to buy stuff for their baby that was growing up inside of her.

After an hour of shopping, James left Maddie with Drew in a coffee shop and went to put the stuff that they bought into the car. While he was putting them away, he noticed a man standing on the other side of the road, looking at Maddie. At first, he thought he could wait for someone and was just looking up front, but a few minutes later, he leaves. That was weird? Maybe he forgot something or remembered something? Well, whatever. James brushed away those weird thoughts and went back to Maddie, that was sitting pale in the coffee shop while Drew was already sleeping in his stroller.

Upon arriving, he noticed Maddie was nervous and trembling. "What's wrong, Maddie?"

"Can… Can we go back home, please?"

"Yeah, sure let's go." Maddie got up fast from her sit and walked to the car. I better ask her when we reach home.

All the way back home, Maddie was nervous. She couldn't believe that John had found her. Why did it have to be now that she's pregnant? I hope James is not mad at me.

"James? Are you mad at me for cutting short our trip?"

"What? Of course not. I know it was weird, but then I thought maybe you got tired because of the pregnancy. I would never be mad at you. Let's just arrive home and eat our lunch there." Maddie smiled at his consideration of her and the pregnancy, but she knew the real reason that they had to cut short their beautiful hangout.

How can it be possible that John has found her, plus he saw her with Drew and James and he properly thinking that I'm married now, GOD what am I going to do now? I'll have to leave them, but I can't. Now that I have finally found the happiness that I've been looking for so long.

After an hour of driving, they finally arrived home. As James opened the front door and unloaded the stuff that they bought for the baby, Maddie was helping Drew out of the car when she noticed a car parking in front of their house. When the tainted widow lowered, she saw John's evil smile. Maddie hugged Drew and walked inside.

James watched as Maddie carried Drew inside with a rush. When he turned around, he saw a strange black car parking in front of their house and the windows were tented. I need to ask her what is going on.

After finishing unloading all the stuff, James finds Maddie sitting on the couch hugging her knees and put Drew on his carpet, playing with his toys. James approached her on the couch and hugged her.

"Maddie, what is going on with you today?"

Maddie lifted to head from her knees and looked at James, "I…" she sighed to herself and confessed to him, because she knows that if he didn't know that truth, she'll feel bad.

"I need to tell you something. Just don't be mad, OK?"

"It's OK, Maddie. You can tell me."

"After you left to put the stuff in the car, I had a weird feeling that someone was watching me. At first, I didn't pay attention to that, but as Drew dropped his toy and I picked it up, I saw him across the street looking at us."

"Who was watching you, Maddie?"

"John Brown! He found me, and he saw me with you and Drew. Plus, he followed us here. I'm afraid James, what are we going to do? At first, I thought of leaving you, yeah, I know, it's a stupid idea." James looked at her with a shock as she said that. "But I can't do it. I love you both too much, plus our baby is growing up."

James looked at her and his eyes softened a bit and then hugged her. "Don't worry Maddie, we'll fight him. I won't let him near you or our family. Was he in that black car with tinted windows that stood in front of our house a minute a go." Maddie nodded her head, James got up from the couch and headed to the entry to see the license of the car, but as he opened the door, he heard that car leaving the place.

"Coward! GOD, I should have taken a picture of that car and the license."

"It's OK, James. We'll now have to be more careful from now on."

"You're right. I'll tell mom and dad about it, so they'll know how he looks in case he showed up again and they can call the police. The most annoying thing is that I need to go back to the base. I'll let my commander know about it too, just in case."

"I'll be careful, James! I love you."

After several hours later, as Maddie prepared their late lunch, someone knocked on the door.

"Coming" she yelled from the kitchen and went to open the door. Upon arriving at the door and opening it, the mailman stood there and smiled.

"Good evening Ms. I have a letter for Maddison Weber, are you her?" the mailman asked.

That's weird. Who could have to send me a letter? Maddie thought to herself and then said, "Yes, I'm her. Thank you. Have a nice day." Maddie smiled at him and took the letter that was addressed to her. As she was closing the door, she opened the letter and as she was reading it on the way back to the kitchen, she froze in her place. The letter was from John and as she continued to read it, her heart was beating like crazy from fear.

Dear Maddison,

I see you finally found a happy family to be with. Well, sorry, but not sorry. If you don't leave that man right now, I'll just kill him and that brat. So, you better make the right decision, and don't you dare to tell anyone about this letter, because it'll end badly for everyone.

Your beloved one,

John Brown.

P.S. See you soon!

After finishing reading the letter, she sat down on the kitchen chair and cried. What is she going to do now? Maddie doesn't want to leave James and Drew, and what about their unborn baby that is growing inside of her now? She knows that if John finds out, he'll kill it.

Maddie took a big breath and released it slowly. She got up from her chair and went to look for James. She plans on finishing it once and for all. Maddie gets to the living room where she sees James playing with Drew.

"Is the lunch being ready?" James was smiling as he saw her entering the living room, but as soon as he sees her red eyes, his smile has fallen, and he reach her. "What's wrong, my love?"

Maddie gave James the letter that she just received from John. He took the letter and read it. As he read it, his eyes became bigger.

"That BASTARD! How dare he threat you with this stupid letter! You will not leave us, right?"

"I was thinking about it. I love you two so much that I want nothing to happen to you, but I want this nightmare to be over."

"I know, my love. We can put on a plan without him knowing and the moment that he kidnaps you we'll try to stop him somehow!"

"Let's first eat, and after that, we'll think of something."

"Thank you for showing me this letter, Maddie. I know it was hard for you. I love you."

"I love you too." Maddie and James picked Drew up from the carpet that he was currently playing with his toys and went to eat their lunch. They have a long night ahead of them now. They need to think of a plan to stop John and put him behind bars once and for all!
