Chapter 73

Mother? She was crying and calling for her mother? She shook her head, trying to remember the hazy dream but all she remembered were her feelings of fear. Of what she wasn't sure but she didn't think she wanted to know. "I'm not sure," she whispered, "I don't remember." James reached for her head and gently stroked her hair. "I'm not sure what it was, but the baby was upset and stressed. I rushed out of the meeting with Sam and the others when I felt it." Trishanna rubbed her belly, feeling how taut it was. It was like her pup was holding himself still. "It's okay baby, mummy's okay now." Both Bradley and James, placed their hands on her stomach and as the little one felt their warmth, he finally relaxed. Trishanna sighed and felt herself relaxing as well. "I'm glad you're alight Bradley," Trishanna whispered. James walked to the other side and slapped Bradley on his shoulder. "So am I."

Bradley winced, but a smile crossed his lips, "How could I? You let my mate walk straight into danger with that maniac on the loose. I have to kick your ass for that." The two men bickered like children and Trishanna released a sigh of relief. They were fine. Her men were fine. That thought made her pause, and she bit her lips. Looking at them from under her lashes, she knew that her feeling was not wrong, but it was confusing to her. She shook her head, right now the biggest thing was to take care of Bradley.

She stood, fixing his pillow and blanket. "James, can you call Lorenzo and let him know Bradley's awake?" At his nod, she smiled her thanks. Turning to the patient, she softly asked, "Are you hungry?" Bradley shook his head and reached for the button that would raise his bed. He gently tugged on her hand until she sat on the bed, careful not to jar him. "Baby, please talk to me. My wolf was screaming that something was wrong. If not for him I might have slept for another day."

Trishanna closed her eyes. All she could remember was the darkness, the fear, and... the sadness. "I really can't remember much, just that it was dark and I was scared. I've never been so scared in all my life." Her body trembled and Bradley wrapped one arm around her, pulling her head to rest under his chin. The move sent a shot of pain through him, but it didn't matter. He closed his eyes inhaling her scent. God, he had missed her so much. He hated the fact that she was here, but he and his wolf could not send her away.

James came back into the room, informing them that Lorenzo and Sam were on their way. Nicole stayed back as she was very tired. Bradley asked for some water Tishanna poured for him. He drank two glasses. He never knew how thirsty he was. Trishanna smiled and that made his heart skip a beat. She looked so beautiful, he knew that he would fight the devil himself if it meant spending one more moment with her. He felt a stirring under the covers and felt himself blush as James pointed it out, laughing as he declared him all but healed. Bradley scowled and would have launched at him, injured or not, when Lorenzo rushed in, fully in mother hen mode. Once again he was poked and prodded, wishing that his wolf's healing would kick in already. He was tired of being tired and achy, yet all his grumbling did was make his mate glare at him. Great. Between her and the doctor, he'd be lucky if he could take a leak without them being in the bathroom with him.

Trishanna hated to leave Bradley, but the doctor was right. She and the pup needed rest. she didn't know just how much until she stood under the hot shower in the hotel room next to Bradely's and felt her muscles finally relax. Sam ordered room service and she dived in, knowing that she needed to keep up her strength. While she had dessert, she spoke to Sammy and gave him the good news so he could share it with her pack. There was a knock and she bade them in, thinking it was room service coming to take the empty tray. She continued drying her hair until the familiar voice called her name. The damp towel fell from her hands.

"James? What are you doing here?" He lifted one shoulder. "I wanted to check and make sure you were alright. Could I come in?" Trishanna covered her mouth. "Of course, I'm sorry. I thought it was someone coming to retrieve the tray." James stepped in and closed the door. He glanced at the empty plates, "Was it good?" Trishanna laughed, "It was, but to tell you the truth, I miss your cook's strawberry tarts." James nodded, wondering if he could get some to her. He stepped closer and Trishanna stood, a bit nervous. She wondered why, it's not like they've never been alone before. Maybe it was because they were in a fancy hotel room. She chuckled to herself, maybe it was time for bed.

James came to stand in front of her. He reached out to touch her stomach, clearly visible in the hotel robe, tied over her protruding belly. He felt the pup kick and the satisfaction it brought couldn't be explained. She looked beautiful with his pup in her womb and her hair damp, her face freshly scrubbed, cheeks rosy. He leaned closer, whispering in her ear as he inhaled her clean scent. "Would you like me to help you dry your hair?"
