Oh s**t

Chapter 36 (Vicky's POV)

A FEW MONTHS LATER

Soooo. Life has been good.

I had no morning sickness, my little beanie was growing in normal measurements, and we were both healthy.

I was still working at the radio station and I actually got closer with a few of my friends once again.

Jessy was the one that stuck with me through all the doctors appointments and I was glad to have my bestie back.

But today was the day.

I would finally find out Beanie's gender.

She was still a tiny thing but I was sure she was a little princess.

Don't ask me how I knew it, I just did. Call it mother's intuition.

I was waiting outside my apartment on the sidewalk when suddenly I heard screeching of tires to my left.

I turned in that direction and to my shock there was a car speeding towards me.

I was frozen. I wanted to but couldn't move.

Suddenly a pair of hands pulled me backwards and right into a bush that stood behind me.

I watched in shock as the car drove away at full speed.

"Damn it Vicky. Why didn't you move out of the way? You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

Jessy was still talking at full speed but I just couldn't get my mind around the fact someone intentionally wanted to run me over.

I wanted to scream, to hit something, anything, but I was frozen in place.

Finally Jessy realized I was still in shock.

She grabbed my hand and started comforting me and it was like someone pulled me out of a trance.

I started shaking, tears started running down my face.

I literally had a breakdown.

She took my hand and led me back inside my apartment, where she gently pushed me towards my sofa.

I took a seat and started breathing deeply while Jessy made me a cup of tea.

Yeah I know. Such a coffee lover drinking tea, but hey caffeine is not good for my Beanie.

When Jessy came back with my tea she sat down beside me.

"Do you have any idea who that could be? Oh and by the way I rescheduled your appointment to next week."

I shook my head no because I really had no idea who that person in the car was.

And also I still didn't trust my voice.

"Listen babe, I need to go get your prescriptions for vitamins etc. And then I'll be back. But I can't stay long. They only gave me a few hours free. Will you be alright?"

"Yeah Jessy don't worry. Thank you for everything really. I have no idea what I would do without you."

She pulled me into a tight hug.

"That's what friends are for. I am just glad we managed to rebuild our friendship. I missed you."

"I missed you too and am glad you let me in your life back again."

She gave me one final hug and went to get my prescriptions.

After a few moments I took my phone out of my purse and quickly opened my most used contact in messages.

Vicky: hey love. Do you have time or are you working on your beast again?

Little dots appeared after only a few seconds.

Andrew: I always have time for you my darling. What's going on? Everything ok?

I smiled at his protectiveness. He was even more protective since my visit to Scotland.

Up until this day he still had no idea I was pregnant and I was careful not to show my belly that was growing bigger on video calls.

I typed out a reply before he could get even more anxious that I knew he already was.

Vicky: no. Not really. Someone tried to run me over in front of my apartment while I was waiting for Jessy. Damn Andrew I was so shocked I couldn't even move.

A few seconds after I hit the send button my screen lit up with an incoming video call.

Of Course he would call.

I swiped my screen to accept his call.

"Hey love"

"Don't you hey me woman! Are you serious right now? Someone tried to run you over with a car and you are so calm? How can you be so calm? Damn it, I want to hit something right now. "

He was still rambling and a laugh started bubbling up inside me.

He stopped talking when the first signs of laughter escaped me.

"I'm sorry love. I knew I had to call you and I would feel better right away. Thank you. And yes I know I need to take this matter seriously and once Jessy comes back I will call the cops so I can give my statement. But no, I have no idea who could be behind the wheel and that's the worst part."

He looked at me with sympathy in his eyes.

"That's a good idea. Now tell how are you? I mean besides being shaken up."

I put my phone on the table and stretched a little to get my joints into proper position.

But I realized my mistake the second I looked back at the screen.

When I stretched my hands my tummy was clearly visible on the camera. And Andrew obviously noticed it judging by his bulgging eyes.

"Vicky. Do you want to tell me something?"

I was starting to panic. Damn it! I was doing so well in the past few months.

"Um actually. Um. No, I think there's nothing interesting to tell. Oh I think I can hear Jessy. We will talk soon, ok? Bye bye."

I disconnected the call without even waiting for his response.

Now I was f****d!

The minute our call was disconnected it rang again. I silenced it and once it stopped ringing I turned off my phone.

I knew I would have to tell him one day soon.

I just wished I had more time.

Either way.

I will tell him.

Just not today.
